I never thought it would be so hard to eat five structured meals a day. By structured, I mean a quality protein with a complex carbohydrate instead of just grabbing something out of the fridge. I have to eat at least 60-80g of low fat-high protein a day to prepare for surgery. I have no problem eating that much protein, I have to teach my self how to spread it out. Because of my crazy work schedule, I focused more on staying within my calorie range for a 24 hour period, not on when I ate. I have started setting the timer on my phone to remind me when it is time to eat. The other thing I am struggling with is NO drinking when I eat. I have to wait at least 15 minutes before eating and 30 minutes after eating to drink any fluids. This makes breakfast especially difficult, because I need my coffee first thing.

I have started journaling, hoping that will help me with my feelings, frustrations, and all the questions I might have for my care providers. This is going to be a really big change, and I want to be 100% ready .
