Mom's Visit To Surgeon

Monday, January 13, 2020

Mom's visit to surgeon Thursday was not good. Basically she is old & the body is failing & no medicine will prevent it. He’s a great dr and I trust his judgement since he’s done several of my surgeries, mom’s, and my sister’s. She has pills that help her urinate, but also pills to slow it down when it flows & the upper colon constipation take magnesium citrate on regular basis. There is ostomy bags that he ruled out as it is not an emergency. What he didn't say was that she wouldn't survive the surgeries, but that is part of it. She has severe arthritis that even pain pills don't touch. My sister showed up last night and saw how bad she’s gotten since Thursday. And I told her what surgeon said. She says so Mom’s giving up and I said yes I think she is. I hadn’t even had time to call her. After I got off work the 10th I went straight to Mom’s place and she was waiting for me. Didn’t even call me at work to say she needed any help. She came over to my place that night and stayed until yesterday afternoon saying she needs to learn how not to be so dependent. And I think well maybe she isn’t giving up and also is that wishful thinking on my part. I have no clue of what to do other than make her as comfortable as possible. I agreed to letting her stay at her apt in hopes she would feel better but am over there every hr checking on her
