I read this in an article on SparksPeople yesterday about self-motivation and being your own best coach and it really spoke to me:
Don't talk to yourself in a manner that you wouldn't use to talk to others. In other words, I don't think I would ever call someone an idiot after they've done something - instead my tendency would be to help them. So the moral is - I shouldn't berate myself by saying I'm an idiot or any other derogatory term. I need to treat myself as I would treat others. It's a twist on the saying to treat others as you would like to be treated.
