Lose 60 Pounds = Blood Pressure 117/72

Thursday, January 16, 2020

I had a pleasant surprise at the doctor's office yesterday when I went for my prescription renewals. Because I take BP meds, she checks my blood pressure. She said you must be very relaxed your BP is 117/72. Beg to differ Dr. I think losing 60 pounds helps. I was first aware of my BP 25 years when I learned it was high and went on meds. 117/72 is the lowest I have every known it to be.

I have been ordering clothes online, a first for me. I am not sure what size I wear and with vanity sizing I may have some interesting fits. I ordered from Macy's and JC Penney's so those clothes will be easy to return if needed. I ordered a few things from Amazon, and I am not sure about doing those returns.

I live on the west coast and we had a snowfall which resulted in storm warnings, road closures, cancellations of exercise classes, social activities, mail delivery, school, ferries, and shockingly the University of British Columbia's annual snowball fight was cancelled due to snow! It paralyzed traffic and kept a lot of people off the road. I have a 4 wheel drive truck with snow tires, and years of experience driving on prairie winter roads, so it's been easy to get around. I am cautious of west coast drivers with limited snow experience. Yesterday I went shopping and later picked up my friend from the airport. She is visiting for a week.

My puppy Rebel is 5 months old and her potty training is going well, though with snow she's had to be very brave and get out there. The sidewalk salt bothers her feet, so we avoid it. Today she lost her first baby tooth. She can do sit, stay, down, and come. Smart girl. At bedtime she is ready to snuggle into her cozy crate. She loves dog school and playing with Royce. They frolic in the yard, zipping around tagging each other and looking for squirrels. Happy dogs!

Later I am looking for vintage silk scarves. I will post pictures of the treasures I find.

Congratulations on your blood pressure results. Woo hoo! And I am sure it is related to your weight loss.

So glad your puppy is getting housetrained, and that she likes to play.

I bought new clothes and new sizes, it is a lot of fun. It is very easy to return items that were purchased online. Amazon will give you several options for any returns.

My BP dropped when I reduced my carb intake and I went from 3 meds a day down to one and have maintained that. I ate too much processed food back then which is loaded with salt. Good job on the BP.

I have never ordered clothes. There is so much difference in sizes. I have made enough mistakes in the past by not trying on things.

Most of the older adults here are used to driving on snow but there is always a new group of 16 year olds. LOL.

    Rebel sounds great!

That is emoticon that your blood pressure is at that range!

This past year, my BP began rising, much to my chagrin. But in Fall 2019 my feet gave me the go-ahead to walk more. This month, I began tracking BP at least weekly, and it is coming down again, below what the doctor would add medication for. I'll do anything to avoid taking medication.

Our dog house-trained herself. No kidding. Soon after we got her at 8 weeks old, she made a fuss in the middle of the night. I got up and took her out. She looked at me - I swear! - as if to say, "What, you're not yelling at me?!?", and from that moment, she made a practice of making a fuss to get us to take her out rather than decorate the carpet. She communicates!

Lower BP??? That's an AWESOME NSV.

re: clothing...I get to know the fit of certain brands and stick with them. I buy most of my pants from Ann Taylor or Eddie Bauer. Both have a 'curvy cut' option, and that's what fits me.

    Have a wonderful weekend.

Wow - I saw the snow storm on the weather channel. We made it just ahead of the storm and are safely in Arizona. How blessed we feel to not be missing the freeze and cold. Hope your clothes fit nicely on your beautiful new figure. emoticon emoticon emoticon

emoticon on lower BP. I'm hoping to cut my BP meds in half with weight loss during 5% Winter challenge. Weird weather west coast with snow and in my area temperature is 70's - 80's.. We have not had snow this year yet. Love the update on Rebel - such a sweet puppy.

ALRIGHT Lynn!!! Have you noticed as I do (if it's the same in Canada) that they NO LONGER Need to use the "big BP cuff"?? I LOVE IT!! I hadn't even noticed until I went in with a friend and they used it on her!! I was SO SURPRISED that I hadn't even realized!! WOOHOO!! CONGRATS on being OFF the BP med!! I have been for a few years, and it's a truly freeing feeling!!! GOOO LYNN!! GOOO!!!

Amazon is so easy to return things. @Fruityful is right. Before I ever order any clothing on Amazon, JC Penney, etc, I first read thru as many reviews as I can (LOL UPS is only a block away, but I STILL HATE going there! LOL) to make sure what I am buying I double check is it the US Size I'm looking at or China? Etc. It SURE Does make a big difference!! YO!! I bought a dress not realizing it was from China and I was a XL (US size) and I was so SHOCKED how TINY it is!! More like a small (US). But, I did NOT Send it back!! I totally LOVE the dress!! It's BRIGHT Yellow with black trimming. I AIM to be on that dress hopefully in the next 2 years!

If it says M (Medium) I still look thru the reviews since no 2 bodies are the same to see how it fits those of my waist, breast, hips etc.

So if you misorder it MAY turn out as it has for me a "I WANT TO WEAR THIS " item.

That's great news about your blood pressure!

I don't know about your area, but when I have to make an Amazon return, I just have to drop it off at Kohl's. It doesn't need to be boxed up and I don't have to print a label. Some items I have to take to UPS, where I have to print off the label and box it. Anyway, there are lots of options if you find clothes on Amazon!

I can't wait to see the treasures you find! I love scarves!
