2020 Reflections

Monday, January 20, 2020

I have not blogged here consistently in so long. I loved this community so much but am feeling far more pressed for time these days, due to work. I pull up the app all of the time (even if I don't track or read anything) but almost never pull up the desktop site on my computer. Right now, I'm on my computer. One of the top photos on my page here is from 10 years ago, when I was at my lowest adult weight (259). The idea of being at that weight again is great. But more importantly, my quality of life was different and I had more energy. I was abstaining from certain things, like alcohol, altogether while tracking my food and exercising often. Being at the of my 30s versus at the end of my 20s (in 2010) brings on a new set of challenges. As such, I am working to set intentions in addition to my goals. I am working to be realistic with my time and other constraints in a way that I didn't have to before. In addition to tracking here on SP, I bought a Wellness Planner from Aldi at the beginning of the month. I like the act of writing things down (as opposed to typing) that the planner allows me to do.

This post is really a ramble while I try to reconnect with myself, my needs, and my goals. I am grateful for the archive of information I have from my first successful stint on this website. Here's to a successful return.

This photo was taken in December 2019, while I was giving a research talk in Nebraska. It highlighted some angles I don't look at very often. I am grateful for that because it required me to embrace and love myself as I am, in my fullness. Once I could do that, I could feel more committed to how loving myself in my fullness means that I set intentions regarding my holistic upkeep - mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical wellness. So it's with that that I continue on this journey. I turn 40 this fall and look forward to being better than ever. emoticon
