Grade 1 groin strain

Tuesday, January 21, 2020

On the good side, it's not a new hernia (or an old one poking through again). On the bad...it hurts to sit down, it hurts to get up after sitting down, it's uncomfortable all day, and it's causing pain to shoot up and down my left leg. So I really wouldn't recommend getting one, unless you truly are some sort of glutton for punishment.

The other bad thing about it is that I've been advised to not play/exercise for a couple of weeks (though I might muck around with weights, if I can do so without involving my legs at all), which really sucks because I was going to play a pickleball tournament in February 1, which I was very much excited about, because I was going to play with a new partner, and I had hopes of doing well. Alas.

The weight at the doctor's office was 221, which was with shoes on, heavy sweatshirt and sweatpants, and pockets full of wallet, phone, keys. Last I checked (yesterday), I was at 214.6, so the fully dressed 221 is in line with expectations. I don't have a follow up scheduled, the doc said to call back if I hadn't improved after a couple of weeks. But I suspect the weight might rise a tad over the next couple, three weeks, what with my primary mode of exercise suddenly getting shut down.

Oh, the joys of hurting oneself! I do it all the time, no matter how careful I try to be. But at least we get out there and do stuff.

    SP has sitting-down exercise videos.
Granted, it's not much, but at least it's something.
    I hope you mend quickly.

Ouch!! Poor you! And it really sucks that you have to miss your tournament that you were excited about. Maybe you can try done chair exercises with weights, I know, you aren't an old lady , but I am and that's where my mind goes, lol. And really watch the eating. Wish you well.
