We are in the midst of moving!!!

Thursday, January 30, 2020

Warning this could be boring but...

I am just beyond excited. We are moving small things that fit in our SUV and make about 5 trips per day. I can't carry stuff but Jeff likes for Wiley and me to ride along.

The new house is a block from the high school that Jeff and Tacy attended. We live 2 blocks from their rival high school now. Tacy didn't go our neighborhood school. At 4 she was the witness of a stabbing fight amongst students and was able to show the police where the knife had been thrown. Later I worked there, then Jeff-he had cherry bombs thrown in his room-no way was Tacy attending that school!

So our neighbor is the brother of a guy Jeff graduated with in '69. He lives there with their 100 yo mother her home since it was built in '59! Jeff is Happy!

It's crazy, almost the same floor plan in each house with the new one (for us) just a wee bit smaller,a 1 1/2 bath vs a 2 bath. I told Jeff "it's like the old house sucked in it's gut" just a little smaller. But we have privacy! Front and back. Old house- our front door is just 8 feet set back from the sidewalk, I can see into the neighbors bedrooms on one side of the house and behind us, ugh! At one time we could sit at the dining room table and watch a bare chested lady in the RV parked behind us, right next to the fence! Used to flick our lights so she'd notice us watching!

Our new back yard:

Sitting with Wiley on our covered patio (haven't had a patio or a cover-30 years)

The yard we are leaving!:

The RV I mentioned was a large new one that was parked right next to the fence, we couldn't even see the roof of the house, It was huge and a couple lived in it, sun bathed and drank on the roof of the RV, we live in the county, seems like no rules. Since the owner died the son turned that area into a work yard for his construction business and rents the house.

This new place is 6 miles west of us, far enough from town that we can take the back route thru avocado and orange groves, open fields. That makes me happy. Everyday I have seen a number of great white herons.

Wiley enjoying his new yard:

Our first night will be the 1st of February.
