I have learned the hard way that timing my food intake can make a big difference in controlling Type 2 Diabetes. I know that I should eat often, but I cannot become a "grazer". I cannot constantly have nutrition going into my system. Without a break, my blood sugar stays high. I have found that by eating every 3 hours, I am able to start my morning with glucose readings between 139 and 173. In the afternoon, I've had readings between 147 and 108.
Here's my plan
Breakfast 6:45
Snack 9:30
Lunch 12 noon
Snack 3
Dinner 5:30

According to the American Diabetes Association, while other factors are at work, the food you eat plays a huge role in balancing your blood sugar levels and minimizing the highs and lows. By understanding how certain foods affect your blood sugar, you can take charge of the outcome. Most importantly, you can more easily keep your blood sugar within the right range so that you can feel your best.

I am finding that planning my meals, timing my meals, and every week pushing back my breakfast as a mild form of Intermittent Fasting, I'm able to control my blood sugar levels. I'm taking control of T2D for my health's sake, and to enjoy my family for years to come! Do you struggle with T2D? What works for you?
