"As we express our gratitude we never forget the highest appreciation is not uttered words but to live by them." ~John F Kennedy

emoticon Happy President's Day!

I remember celebrating Lincoln's and Washington's birthday but never President's Day. I looked it up and it looked like congress past it in 1971. Who knows how long it took until our area to started giving our school a 3 or 4 day holiday. My mom was a teacher and I remember when I lived in Lacrosse, mom and dad came down that weekend to stay with me. I think they enjoyed the sales-lol! When my son started school, it was another day off from school that the paternal grandma took me to court for to fight to have my son for the 3-4 day holiday. So President's Day doesn't mean anything to me.

emoticon For my new today I read 44 Fun Facts About Each President. I found it very interesting! I found them so interesting, I left a interesting fact about a president on the boards of each of my teams! I'm sure my team mates must think I am crazy! I also added one to my status. My favorite fun fact was: "John Quincy Adams had a strange routine.
We can imagine there would be quite the controversy if any of our modern presidents went skinny-dipping in the Potomac River. But that's exactly what John Quincy Adams did every single morning as part of his daily routine. According to his journal, he regularly took a long walk and a dip in the river early in the morning before returning home for breakfast."

emoticon I really like the quote of President Kennedy. Words to me are meaningless and so are gifts to me. Yes I loved that my son remembered me on Valentine's Day but to me it's also the actions along with the words that mean something to me. Today (as every Monday) I am grateful for my washer and dryer in our small place. I am so grateful I don't have to go anywhere to do my laundry! It is such a blessing that others may take for granted.

emoticon What do I love about myself? I love that I don't have a favorite color. I've been told that is odd but I have never in my life had a favorite color. When I was in high school our pastor's daughter loved the color blue and everything in her bedroom was blue. When I saw it for the 1st time, someone beside me said she wanted to go in there and add a color that wasn't blue. I found it funny. A friend in Lacrosse had her whole apt blue. It was fun to see what new blue household item she found each time I was there. But to me liking one color that much is boring. I like variety of colors!

I am going to end this blog with another quote:

"Children are the world's most valuable resource and best hope for the future" ~John F Kennedy
