I am flying high today.
As I said yesterday I had an appointment with my cardiologist.
Over the years I have been treated for high blood pressure. It runs in my family.
Then last year I was diagnosed with A fib. I had no symptoms, so it was a surprise when I found out.
SOlution number one was to have cardioversion to shock my heart back into normal rhythm. there was no guarantee it would work. Especially because I had been in A fib for several months before I even knew it.
thankfully after two zaps, my heart returned to normal rhythm. Again, no guarantees it will remain that way. My doctor cautioned me at the time, saying it could last an hour, a day, a month, a year or many years. Cardioversion cannot be repeated for five years.
She also suggested at that time that I wear a fitness watch that measures heart rate to give me an indication if my heart is going out of rhythm. (I wear a Fitbit Inspire HR now)
SInce the cardioversion, I have felt so much better. I have more energy. I can workout at higher levels.
Going to this appointment yesterday, f course I felt some uncertainty. ALthough I feel good, when I had A fib, I had no idea.
First check was BP. My BP was the best it has been in years - 130/62!
Next came the EKG. It was perfect! even better than right after the cardioversion.
The doctor told me she was surprised but very pleased. because I had been in Afib for a longer period of time, she was doubtful it would go as well as it did, and that it would last. She said she could not be more pleased with how I am doing. Of course she mentioned weight loss, but did not dwell on it. She told me to keep doing what I am doing and come back in 6 months.
THat is why I am flying high today.
I hope you all have a happy and healthy day.
