Day 10/600 - tackling the week
Monday, February 24, 2020
Ok start into the week. All day meetings at work, exhausted. I am an extreme introvert, so days I spend meeting all day with others just drain me completely. Especially if I don’t have the occasional break in between meetings.
The next days are only slightly better. And in addition have to go out for work dinner 3 times this week. Have prepared myself and checked out where we are heading. Checked the menu and pretty much made my selections in my mind. All I have to do now is stick to my selection.....chose to do what I know is the right thing. Feel quite confident that I will ace this week. And in case I slip up once, I will double my efforts to get back and on the wagon. It won’t be the end of the world.
Finally got to cook my blood sausages and sauerkraut, and was really looking forward to it, as this is something my mom used to cook once or twice a year and I haven’t had in a long time. Unfortunately they were just OK, not very similar to the ones I had growing up. The reason that I was looking forward to them was that when I cook things, or find things to cook that I have had/my mom cooked during my childhood, it feels like I am instantly transported back to my childhood. It’s funny how taste and memory are connected.
I guess I have been a bit sentimental recently and cooked all kinds of foods from way back. My parents have been gone for some time, and this helps me stay connected. Recently cooked beef heart, cheeks, tongue. I was fortunate that, although my parents just had enough money to make ends meet, my mom was a super talented chef and could create the most delicious meals out of nothing. She could make a meal out of a head of cabbage and leftover pasta.
Anyways, back to 2020.....I am excited about the 10 day streak I have just completed and will focus on the next 10 days. I can do this, and I WILL!!!
Day 10 - 14.2 lbs down - only 185.8 lbs or 590 days to go to 220lbs
I WILL succeed, because I choose to, because I CARE!
C - COMMIT + Plan every day - I choose to see every day as a new opportunity!
A - ACT on my plans consistently - I choose to take the initiative, I own this!
R - RECORD + REVIEW daily - what worked, what didn’t - Celebrate every victory, learn from any challenge!
E - EMBRACE the journey - I choose to own every decision and every choice and will not be derailed by one challenge, by one bad choice!
