STUCK. Lost 19 lbs now stuck.

Last fall my cravings magically lessened. emoticon

(Not so magically emoticon because I spark daily --for over 10 try to do what my sparkfriends suggest.) emoticon

Stuck for 3 months now! emoticon I log my foods daily. Calories about 1500. Aiming at 1200 but night time eating is out of hand--can't sleep. Getting professional help with that. Eating LOTS of veggies. No bread or things made with white flour. Not much meat. Chicken, fish, beans, brown rice. Olive oil, Smart Butter with olive oil, mayo made with olive oil, etc. Exercise not so much but logging it daily. Mostly walking. Have opportunities for the gym and even water classes. Used to do that but got out of the habit.Just lately change of meds and water weight is building. But my weight was stuck way before I changed meds. Added to Welbutrin and dropped sertraline. Thyroid meds daily, water pill daily, continued use of a statin for a few years. Counselor and psychiatrist and nurse from "Endeavor" have been working with me for months.

    Lots of good advice on how to break through your plateau!! Stick to the plan and add a bit more exercise - even just an extra 10 minutes at a different time of day may help. I like the suggestion of eating at the higher end of your calorie allowance for a week or so and then cut back a bit - it may just be what you need to get back in gear again. Congrats on being 19 lbs. down - woohoo for you!! Be patient as you wait out your body adjusting to all the good changes you've made!!

    I've never been on a water pill, are you supposed to drink more or less water when on them? I was going to say, track your water to see if you're getting enough. When not, my body always holds weight. Like I'm not giving it enough water, so it hoards it. But I really don't know how different water pills make the equation.

    I'd also say try walking for 10 minutes after each meal (within 30 minutes of finishing it). There's been some research to support that helping with blood glucose and also weight.

    You have a plateau as your body is adjusting to your new weight just keep at it. Try some new exercise or eat a bit differently. All the best.

    Think of a plateau as your body learning not to regain weight you have lost! Change up, add more exercise again. You're doing amazing! emoticon

    I know that around 1500 is the high end of my calorie range and I am less likely to lose there. I need to stay around 1350. I know it is hard. Night time is typically when I start wanting candy. I have been doing pretty good about staying away most of the time but it isn't easy.

    sometimes your body needs a little fat as in beef and chicken . exercise and good sleep may be all you need Hugs

    That is frustrating. Try finding ways to change things up. Maybe eating at different times, or breakfast for dinner and dinner for breakfast. More protein at night can help curb night snacking...things like greek yogurt.

    I would say to add some more protein to your diet-lean protein and get back into those water aerobics-adding more exercise can't hurt and it will help reset your metabolism

    How about something as simple as dinner exchanged for lunch or lunch for breakfast? Sometimes eating things out of their usual place in your day has you thinking about the portions and ingredients in a different way. It caused me to change a few ingredients which I think helped.

    I agree changing it up tends to help break through a plateau. Add just ten minutes a day of some form of exercise. Getting advice from your doctor's is good also. Sometimes weighing and measuring and tracking your food intake will help. I know it works for me because watching my.portion sizes works.
    You can do it just don't give up!

    It happens. Everyone is different. I find when I get stuck it helps to mix things up a bit. I may start my day with a brisk 15 minute walk, or mix up my calorie intake - have one day on the high side and a few on the low side, then high again. Hang in there - this too will pass and things will change!

    I can relate. My former doctor had me on a similar diet and I reached a point where I could not lose more weight. My current doctor said it was because I was eating too many carbs which drive blood sugar so he cut me back to 150gms of net carbs a day and then later had to go to 125gms of net carbs a day as 150gms was still too much. Unless you are fairly active, 1500 calories a day is probably too many calories to lose weight for a middle aged woman. Especially on meds and with thyroid trouble. My doctor says 1200 to 1400.

    Your meds could be partially to blame. Don't give up.

    Agree w/PYNETREE -- try to add 10 min. of exercise to the day and build up. That will help a lot.

    And it seems the antithesis of what should be done, but . . . maybe your body needs a few more calories?? Just a thought.

    I can only say for me, weighing and measuring food really helps, too, because even if I'm eating healthy, if my portion size is important, even with healthy foods.

    Chris, sometimes it helps break through a Stall, by changing up your plan. Add 10 min of exercise as soon as you wake up. Even eat on the higher side of Your Calorie Window for a week. Plateaus are annoying! But, Don't Give Up! Just Change It Up! ☆
