Ideas for meals that are LOW Carb, LOW Cholestereol?

Wednesday, February 26, 2020

My Cholesterol is a bit high and I have six months to bring it down or I will need to begin medicine. A couple of years ago I was able to bring down my cholesterol by eating lots of oatmeal. I think that will not work for me this time because I am eating just too many foods that contain cholesterol.

My husband eats LOW CARB because of diabetes. I need to eat LOW Cholesterol.

I like to eat MEAT. I am not a vegetarian but I do like veggies. What are your ideas of MEALS that I can prepare that will be healthy for both my husband and me?? Please don't just list foods but I need ideas for MEALS that I can perpare.

Thanks for following my blogs and any ideas you might share.

We enjoy boneless chicken breast (pressure cooked), mashed cauliflower with very little butter and low fat milk, and string beans or steamed broccoli.

For lunch, it's usually a turkey wrap: Dietz & Watson Gourmet Lite Turkey on Joseph's flax, oat bran, & whole wheat wraps, spread with fresh avocado or mustard and lettuce with pickles.

Supper tonight was Gardein Classic Meatless Meatballs (non-gmo) with no salt, bpa free crushed tomatoes, quinoa pasta and string beans.

We also enjoy a large garden salad, lots of veggies, olives, with grilled chicken/low fat feta cheese and home made dressing. It's also good topped with tuna, chickpeas, or salmon.

Dessert is a large orange or pink grapefruit (Scarletts is delicious!).

AOKDIET has some good thoughts. Right now I can't add much. I have been learning to eat a gluten free diet. So I am watching that currently. Once I learn it better, I need to think of other foods.

Low fat Greek yogurt plain, add fruit, mint, chocolate or low sugar 9 grams or less flavor - we pour into popsicle trays, or make ice cream by mixing it up 2-4 times every 30-60 minutes depending on how it freezes
