Well, here we are, two weeks since the Minneapolis police murdered George Floyd. One since a business strip kitty corner from my home was set on fire by areonists. By all accounts this was a targeted attack by a white supremacist. Accurate intelligence indicated that out of town and out of state white supremacy groups had been infiltrating Mpls and St Paul. We had cars with no plates and other indicators to know this was true. (Please don't come here with "antifa" crap). The fire destroyed four local businesses, two of them black owned and said so on the boards on the windows. We have had citizen watch groups out and as a whole neighborhood we took precautions to keep ourselves safe. We brought garbage cans in we out grills away, took in yard signs, etc, etc. we looked out for each other and our neighborhood. Today, is one week from the 2 hours it took to get that fire out and in that time we as the Northside and the south side and St. Paul sent a loud and clear message that those bad actors are not welcome here. They have since left.
There is a lot happening. Still, there could and needs to be more.
For now, I will say, I am safe. My family is safe. We are a strong community. There are significant changes coming, and MN is going to be ground zero for those changes.
