My first trip to the VA since moving.

My husband drove me to the VA outpatient clinic today in Portsmouth, Ohio. I had an appointment with a woman to help me fill out an Advanced Directive. My husband had to stand outside after a very hard and heavy rain and talk through the door. My husband told them, I was there to see a psychiatrist. I sat in the car since I didn't have my phone with me and to see how long it would take before they opened the doors for us, we were there early. I'm glad that's done.
I haven't been doing my walking due to IBS. I have had two catastrophes recently and had one today. Our dryer broke, so any wet clothes have to be dried at the laundromat. I have been looking for a plastic-covered wire clothes line, but will have to order one online.
We cooked out on our makeshift fire pit last night. It is the wheel off a truck. We have plenty of sticks that fall off the tall trees in our back yard and this Spring I bought two bales of straw to keep my flowering plants from freezing out. We used a flake of straw as a fire starter and we had hot dogs, marshmallows and we cooked country style baked beans on the stove inside. We also had a salad, but I didn't eat any. I weighed myself at the VA and I am down almost three pounds since Friday. I think they said they want a 4 pound loss per month, but I will have to verify that.
I walked this evening, but had a backache and my husband had to hurry home to go to the bathroom. I got 18 minutes in and I am pleased with anything over 10 minutes.
I have been using True Lemon and Pyure artificial sweetener (stevia, I think) for a no-calorie drink. There are other flavors, but I can't find them in the stores. You can fill up on fluids, and when your drink has no calories, you will do no harm to your weight loss. My husband leaves tomorrow evening after church to go to our son's house in West Virginia. They plan on picking wild black raspberries if they can find them. Our son and his in-laws are going to Raystown Lake in Pennsylvania and he will go there too. We need some time apart.
I am working on filing receipts. My husband put two staples in a pile of receipts that were going horizontally, vertically, upside down, face down/up, but he did get them into a folder. This is the mess I contend with yearly. He put the folders of receipts in the Stow N Go of our vehicle (the floor board), so that nobody could take anything that might have our Social Security numbers or bank account numbers on it. I would have never looked there and had been praying I would find them since February 6th, when we moved into our house.
He plans to come home before July 5 to go to church.
