Horseflies are relentless, cruel and mean.
The wickedest bug I’ve ever seen.
When I’m out walking they come around.
Circle my head with a buzzing sound.
I hate those creatures because they bite
And leave a swollen mark, both morning and night.
Because of them, I’ve shortened my walks.
I head for the beach and sit on the docks.
Soon the hot temps will cool
My swatting arms and the horseflies will no longer duel.
Yes, I love the summer days,
But I long for the time when the horseflies go away.
According to Wikipedia, Horse-flies or horseflies are true flies in the family Tabanidae in the insect order Diptera. They are often large and agile in flight, and the females bite animals, including humans, to obtain blood. They prefer to fly in sunlight, avoiding dark and shady areas, and are inactive at night.
