you ever find something that works but can't continue for whatever reason?

I had a little success over five years ago. (It was actually a lot, i was 10-15 pounds from goal) I was getting fit, loosing weight, strength building, the whole bit.

I was working three 12 hour shifts on Saturday, Sunday, Monday. I had plenty of time to walk four days a week with a friend in addition to walking my dogs. My kid had moved out so I had extra income and could afford water aerobic classes at a local community center that did not require a membership and later a planet fitness membership that I went to a few days a week.

Since then, and this is where I see the decline, I had some surgeries that prevented me from doing anything especially working out so I lost that habit. About the same time my friend got a new job and couldn't walk with me.
Then I was layed off and had to get two jobs to make same amount of money. This took up the time I had to go to water aerobics. I still went to planet fitness but not as often.
Then, after a while if job hopping to find a good fit for me, I ended up working in dog day care where I could take my dogs so I didn't walk them as much, just on days off. Also, I was working two locations, one am one pm, six days a week. 5am to 8 pm ... only one hour to get from one location to other ... i got in habit of fast food.

Then I moved. The place I moved to does not have a planet fitness (closest one is 45 minutes away and I can't justify the gas though i think about it). Any fitness centers out here require membership to join classes and i can't afford that because of next reason. (And this was before current climate of America)

I got a new job. I don't make as much but it is enough to pay bills and such. I am so happy at my new home and I don't need /want anything really. I could get a second job to have extra money but then I won't have time and I value time over money.

I now work 9-5. I should have plenty of time to exercise, plan food . . . All the stuff we should be doing.

I still walk my dogs but the one is older and doesn't move as quick so it isn't much exercise for me (yes, I'm moving but heart rate not going up) but with heat of summer even getting up early the streets get hot fast.
I have plenty of workout videos and have had equipment donated to me (a recumbent bike, some dumbells, it is actually ridiculous. I just don't do them even thumough I should, totally have space, time etc.

I have joined weight watchers and okay, then switched to tops and hovering at okay. I like the support there. When it comes to food, I'm doing better with no fast food. I mostly eat my fruits and veggies... downfall is sweets, especially in summer ... love popsicles.

I feel like I need a fitness group to ... hey, I can get on local Facebook page and see if there is anything. A free group of people that meet up to walk or something. Great idea! Thanks SparkPeople. (Funny how saying it helps a little.
If you have any other ideas for getting back to that initial support and group activity on the cheap / free in a rural community it would be much appreciated. (Rural like I have chickens, goats and cows as neighbors. They live just past the corn fields :0)

Hopefully I find something. I do think fitness for me is a social thing.
