Week Four 5% Summer Challenge

Our weekly challenge has to do with daily stretching:

"Stretching is so natural, yet we don’t do it often enough. Stretching will increase your flexibility and increase your range of motion. Here are some benefits of stretching.

• Reduce muscle tension
• Increase range of movement in the joints
• Enhance muscular coordination
• Increase circulation of the blood to various parts of the body
• Increase energy levels (resulting from increased circulation)

Experts recommend that people stretch for 10-15 minutes per day. "

I have already incorporated chair yoga into my daily routine 4-6 times a week, 40 minutes each time. So I enjoy stretching and miss it when I have not done stretching.

The challenge that carries over from Week 3...well, that is a different story. Here is a description:
" 'Awesome' Out of Sight Out of Mind, OSOM - keep naughty foods (you know what they are!) out of sight and DO NOT go looking for them = 10 points per day - all or nothing. Daily MAXIMUM 10 points"

I would like to shoot for a Weekly Warrior Badge this week. Only a couple more weeks until the start of teaching school and I want to be fit and motivated. I want good, healthy habits engrained in me before the stress of work.

Here's to a healthy, productive end-of-July and August.

    Sounds like you have a head start on the stretching! I try to avoid buying any OSOM items too. I am a retired teacher but our district is going back virtually for at least the first 9 weeks. I think teachers work in the school building unless they have a doctor's note and then the system will make accommodations for them. My grandkids are in CA and they start virtually as well.

    I like this comment. Always learning from other Sparkies new ways to stay fit and healthy. I only do stretches after my workouts & when practicing yoga, but I’ll have to try this method. Thanks!!

    Love my daily stretch and balance workouts which include many yoga moves. As for OSOM, my only cure is not to buy them, lol.
