Day 290: Swimming in the ocean
Monday, September 07, 2020
I hope all of you in the US and Canada are having a great Labor Day/Labour Day weekend!
Yesterday was Day 290 of my 10+ fitness minutes streak. My highlight for the day was a hike to the ocean and swimming in the cold water with my 14yo.
We only stayed in the water for 15 minutes yesterday plus 20 minutes of hiking total there and back.
Someone asked after my last blog why I'm doing cold water training. The answer is that it's a great way to build your immune system. I've been researching this along with something called contrast therapy. This is where you alternate from hot to cold as a way to strengthen your immune system. I really like doing this in the shower by going from completely cold water for 30-60 seconds to hot water and back and forth. My doctor originally shared this as a way to strengthen your immune system.
The second reason I'm doing this is because it's fun! Now my son and I swim in the ocean 2-3 times per week together. We're trying to get his big brother to give it a try too.
Are you doing anything fun this weekend? Keep visualizing that reaching small goals one at a time leads to major breakthroughs.
