Everything is bigger in Texas, especially the Homecoming mums. They can border on the grotesque and ridiculous. I grew up in Florida and it was just a few ribbons. These babies can cost $$$$ if you are not careful. This year is my first year making one. I thought I would be "smart" and it would be cheaper than the one I purchased pre-made last year and I regret not doing it again. I complained it was $40.
This year, I spent $60 on my son's and $100 on my daughters and those were not even put together. My head is still spinning... This is my Son's senior homecoming ribbon. I made it for him for a surprise. His response, (not thanks or that looks great but....)
"Mom, my girlfriend makes me one and I make one for her." I am like, "okay". Would have been nice to know that before I put his name on one of the ribbons, so I will have to detach it and make it a little more feminine.
My daughters is a work in progress.....
The head of the Mum is about chest length across. The ribbons will reach her knees.
That's how they do it here. Hobby Lobby loves me now.
