CPap Recommendations???

Saturday, September 26, 2020

Hey Spark Friends! I recently have been blessed with a CPap machine after years of fighting with insurance to get one. So in no way am I trying to complain because I greatly appreciate the miserable pain, fatigue, and ick that I felt before with my apnea... With that said, does anyone have any recommendations on how to combat the rubbing of the mask? I have the one that goes outside and over the nose so it lands around the sides where my cheeks would start. I have eczema and it is really starting to agitate it! Ive been using my eczema cream, but does anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions? I've also noticed that the straps on the mask move up and down a lot. If I loosen it, then the mask will not stay on my nose, if I tighten it then the straps will hurt my ear & face. Anyone else have that problem? Thoughts, Suggestions? 1 last thing, despite changes in my setting for the humidifier, the mask will usually gather water droplets towards the end of the night. And when those finally drop on my nose that usually wakes me up! Anybody else have that? Thanks for any help, tips, or tricks!

It really took me a while to get used to my CPA. I don't know if this will help you or not, but it has helped me with the fitting of the straps. I have thick hair. After I put the mask on, I pull sections of hair through the strap openings .....

Re mask irritation: I was told to use a water based lubricant like Aquifor. Vaseline could degrade the mask. I later switched mask types to fit into my nostrils instead. Irritation could still happen tho.

Congratulations on getting a CPap machine! I don't have one yet, but I'll ask my friend is she's experienced any of the same challenges when using her CPap,

Re straps: When I tighten mine enough to stay put, it leaves creases on my cheeks. I recently saw online padding or wraps for the straps which are supposed to prevent that. I haven't tried them tho.

Humidity or rain makes that happen, I was told to turn off the humidifier in that weather. Also, I found that if the CPAP is level or above my head on the nightstand, water droplets will run down the hose to my nose. O put my CPAP on a lower shelf.
