Moving toward functional fitness

I'm still alive and kicking. I'm back to the gym fairly regularly, despite CoVid. Been trying a lot more stuff out at the gym lately. I think it'd because there's less folks there and many of the folks that are there, are the regulars that I know already. So, I've been doing tire flips, lots of bench press works, tried out the sled the other day, hitting the bag when I feel up to it. A bit more intensity. I'm trying to get that explosiveness up.
Martial arts is also still going on. We finally have been meeting in person. We've been lucky (knock on wood) and haven't had too many rainy days, as we practice outside at Sensei's place. Yesterday, we went for a mile jog. As bad as it sounds, that's why I'm not at the gym today. My ankles and core are bothering me.
Food is still not good. I don't know what I need to do to make food good for life. I cannot seem to get away from sweets.

    Reduce sweets and sugar gradually. Eat fruit maybe. Drink lots of water and protein.
