Day 323: New phone

Happy Saturday, SparkPeople!

My highlight yesterday was getting a new mobile phone for the first time in around 6 years. Since I work from home and also since there is some chance my mobile phone contributed to my brain tumor (the tumor happened right where I held my phone), I don't use my mobile phone much. I had a neurosurgeon tell me he notices a pattern of people more likely to have brain tumors on the side of their head where they hold their mobile phone.

Especially if you have other health issues, I do recommend that people try to limit their exposure to emf from mobile phone, wifi bases, cordless phone bases, and more. I believe that as health issues add up, this makes you more susceptible to other health issues and "toxins" like emf. This is a top reason to work on prevention like good nutrition, fitness, stress management, sleep, and more.

From what I've read, I highly recommend turning off emf sources at night when you sleep because there's some research showing it can affect your sleep.

But the maps feature on my old phone started having issues, so I had to get a new one :).

I got a Google Pixel 4a on sale for $300 since that fits my needs including having a really good camera at a good price.

My fitness highlight was taking Flash for a walk/light hike yesterday afternoon.

Now it's time to get outside for some sunshine and free Vitamin D.

How are things going with you? Any highlights or plans this weekend?

SparkCheers!

Chris

You are lucky to get a new phone. Good luck with it. I have heard that about cell phones for years. We still have our land line.

I'm considering upgrading from a Pixel 2 to the 4a. My current phone is having battery issues. Let me know how the 4a works for you.

Wow! That's the first I have heard about the phones causing brain tumors in some time. Thanks for the reminder. We still have a "land line" and I use that whenever I plan to be on the phone for some time. Retired so no need for a work phone.

I plan to meet up with my friend for mall walking. Wet and windy outside.

Enjoy your new phone at a great price.

    Thanks for the warning.
They are finding more new mothers have breast tumors as they are putting their phones in their bras as they are wearing stretchable pants like maternity pants or yoga pants during this time. There usually are no pockets in them for their phone.

Thanks for all the helpful information you share. I always use the speaker and most times with a bluetooth speaker attached so I can hear it well. And I keep my lan phones specially because of the emf's.

I turn on speakerphone every time I make a call. I didn't know about the phone being a health hazard. Good to know.

I have been using my Scooter when it is nice out. I was going to go to the Farmers Market but ended up going to pick up my medications and making it home on time because it began to sprinkle but the rain didn't last long.

I generally use the speaker on both the land line and cell phone. My favorite use of the cell is taking pics of my 3 dogs. When have had a stressful day I look at the dog pics when away from home. When home have the joy of petting my beautiful greyhound rescue girl and holding the two little ones from the local animal shelter, a rat terrier and a chihuahua mix. They bring pure happiness to my husband's and my life.

I too worry about too much emf exposure. I deliberately have a 'dumb' phone - it only does talk and text. It also saves me from spending hours at a time staring at my phone.

This weekend...some work, and I hope to work on my taxes. I got an extension, but October 15th is coming very quickly.

We hiked seven miles today. It was strenuous because of a number of steep hills and a couple tiny creeks to cross, but it felt great to be outside on a beautiful fall day. The leaves were golden, chartreuse, or still green. Some are red and they pop out especially when the sun shines on them.

I agree with you re: emf's. I suspect exposure contributed to my breast cancer. I now rotate where I hold my laptop and invested in a emf shield

Most my calls are taken on the speaker phone as long as I am not in an area with other people.
We have been doing yard work getting prepared for winter and snow.

I have used the speaker phone since I heard about the relationship between cell phones and tumors.

We have had an unbelievable Fall week----------temps in the 70s and lots of sunshine, so it has been very easy to find things to do outside and walks to take. Lots of ways to exercise----------

Wow! Will have to research a bit more about emf. As for my Saturday, we spent a couple of hours at a horse show watching a good friend's daughter compete. She did pretty well. Her horse has been competing too much in the last couple of weeks however and was showing that she was tired out.

I use the speaker all the time. The new phones do make me miss the home phone. Today it is instant phone call any time any where. At least the old phone booths kept you from hearing the other people’s entire conversation!!

I am happy not to need one of those mobiles. I have known about the phones for a long time. It actually gives a warning in the fine print of the phone information about keeping it a safe distance from your ear.
It was a very rare warm day in October here, up to 76, normally more like 50 or lower, so I went for a stroll in a park along the river, but it looks like most of the city had the same idea, it was packed. Even the river was full of paddlers. We don't usually get shirtsleeve weather now. Enjoyed it very much! Had a wonderful Thanksgiving lunch with my sister and her daughter and our Mom. October 12 is Canadian thanksgiving.
    Have a great weekend!

I leave my phone downstairs when I go to bed and I sleep upstairs. We have a house phone if one of our children has an emergency and needs to reach us. I do not get many calls and use my phone mostly for informational use. The highlight of my week will be going to church tomorrow. I always look forward to that.

Gosh, very interesting about the emfs. I wonder what we’re doing with AirPods in our ears!

Functional fitness for me today. We had to move everything out of our house for a remodel starting on Monday. That was hard work. Another day to go tomorrow.

Thanks for the informative post Chris....I use my phone sparingly anyway, when possible use the
speaker, and I have the same phone you do. My husband already has a brain tumor, in an inoperable
spot, wouldn't you know............so he does likewise on the phone, he has some gizmo he hangs around
his neck if he is going to be on the phone for very long.

I will have to reassess some of the items around us..........and our proximity to them.

Glad to hear you are doing so well, and the amazing Flash is getting exercise....

Thanks Chris for the information. My cell phone is turned off most of the time. I just have it in case of an emergency.

I suppose this warning goes with cordless landline phones also.... When I used the speaker phone on my cordless phone it goes dead really fast. I know I need a new one but just can't figure out which one will be better than the one I have. Now I know I need to get one that the speaker works for a long time. I have meetings on the phone that can last sometimes up to 3 or 4 hours.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone living in Canada!!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
