Wrenches at my door

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

This morning a neighbor came by with a couple of pairs of men's jeans that needed fixing. Why do men wear holes in their jeans beside the zipper or just under it? They are all fixed but did make for a frustrating day. Why do I say yes to things like this?

Other than fixing jeans I didn't do much today. Just tired and worn out. There is one more day before Fri. when I get to go out again. I made it a whole week on my tiny frig and what I bought last Fri. Not too bad.

Thank fulls
1. we will pass one hurdle next week and I hope that calms some of the news down at least
2. you can see some of my grass again I'm beginning to think the snow will be gone soon
3. my daughter called today and was looking for some photo's from when she was little on Halloween. I had to remind her that she picked out the fabric for some of those costumessss...she called one of them a scary clown. Her office is posting them on their website

Back to finishing the chevron quilt tomorrow. having that done will feel good.

So you did get the neighbor's jeans fixed today, bet he will be thrilled he can wear them once again.
So we went grocery shopping this afternoon, 2 hours in the store and over $200. worth of groceries--my goodness. We did get a few things that weren't groceries, but Wow. So needless to say, I didn't get any sewing done today. We got home after 4 PM, by the time I got all the groceries put away, and the meats wrapped and put all but the brats and pork chops in the freezer it was time to deal with supper. Besides my back was bothering me too, probably from pushing about 8 carts all at once into the cart corral. Then somebody pushed their cart into our car, that we bought this spring, so big scratch there.
This evening I did get the dog measured for the coat top I want to make for her. One for now and then another with some cute mittens on the lining for the Christmas, winter one. Jim asked how the dog coat was coming along? Told him we need to measure her so I can make the pattern. He said she could have used the coat this morning and tomorrow as well, oh well, guess making one is now a priority , sure I'll get it done, and the morning temps will go up. 44 degrees today and tomorrow, then in the low to mid 50's. But since she got cut last Friday, she probably could use some warmth in the mornings, hope I can make the pattern and get the thing cut out tomorrow, and sewed on Friday.

My one grandmother was always the one who patched my dad and his brother's overalls. They were farmers in East Central Minnesota. When Grandma died, my sister took over the patching jobs until both my dad and his brother retired from farming. I have always done a lot of sewing, but I never patched overalls. That takes talent to get the patch just right.
