A not-so-different Thanksgiving for us

Friday, November 27, 2020

The meal event was similar to what I would normally cook, minus snacking goodies for the early part of the day. I've learned better! Our bubble--mates DD2, SIL2 and grand dog arrived early to "help" (eat the sticky buns I was requested to make). I'd prepared everything except the danged turkey breast several days before. SIL2 manned the oven-watch while the rest of us ventured to DD1's house with their dose of sticky buns.

Some kids were still utilizing the cardboard box.
Their next-door neighbors are in their bubble. Both families have three kids of like ages and they practically live in each other's houses. That's really nice. My daughter woke one day to find one of the neighbor's kids standing at her bedside. "What can I have to eat?" he queried. "Go home." she replied.
That kind of close!
They were going to have a shared feast sort of outdoors. A cultural exchange of American classics and Korean BBQ. I wish I could have stayed there for something different!

We had a nice masked visit in the back yard the g-kids and some other-grand dog time as well. It was the first time I'd seen Winnie off leash. She's part whippet or greyhound and I've never seen a dog run so fast and for the shear joy of running!

Back home dinner was consumed, cleaned up and a good time was had by all.
I hope you all had a good day too!

I have this mental picture of waking up, seeing a 'strange' kid (i.e. not my own) standing there asking what can be eaten! LOL

Glad it was a nice Thansgiving. Our was different, but nice.

We stayed home and had a fabulous meal, according to hubby.

The visiting neighbor kid at bedside is so not me. I barely could tolerate my own kid at bedside!! Yikes.

What a lovely Holiday! Love that the big box is being used to its best possible purpose!

I love watching the various breeds of canine fulfilling their breeding. You just look at how the spines of the whippets and greyhounds are like big old springs, giving them that speed. Carl, being a mix, has a bit of that endurance runner in him from his sire's GSP breed, but also a good dose of guard dog from his mum, the Doberman. Mixed breeds are the most fun to try to figure out!

So happy that Winnie has come into your bubble!

Here's to safe celebrations in our "bubbles"

I had to read backwards to check out the "big box"

I love it! That's something I bet they will always remember.

Sounds like a wonderful safe holiday.
We had the usual feast, although somewhat subdued...and we all acknowledged our loss with sad smiles.
My poor husband is suffering so...he looks like he has aged ten years this week.

My day was made perfect when I skyped for the 1st time with 2 daughters & a granddaughter, all miles apart. We will do it again & often, I hope. No special meal as I considered a Church senior's take-out dinner my Thanksgiving last week. I put 1 of my trees together & will decorate today....the other might wait until Sunday since I have plans to leave town tomorrow for a couple hours. I'm venturing out & plan to see great-grandson, 3, who I haven't seen for a year. He will be at my daughter's & just the 3 of us together. Life is good when you have the right attitude & concentrate on the positive.
