When you are so out of shape that a walk is daunting

In August I decided to start walking. I was so out of shape. We have a small park near my home and each lap is 9/10 of a mile. Oh my goodness. There is one section of the park that when you walked around it had a slight incline. You would have thought it was a mountain! I remember dreading that corner of the park because I knew that I would feel it. Now here I am 5 months later and I giggle thinking about that. The human body is so resiliant!
If you are on ground zero, like I was, honor your body with a walk. Make it a small one. Start with 10 minutes. I promise that after a couple of walks you can add more time and you will feel more energized! Change your scenery. I have enjoyed walks at several local conservation areas and soon, next Spring, when days are longer I found a local group that do walks at local places. I might even make a new friend!
I am glad that I believed I deserved it. You don t have to do anything crazy. Just start with one foot in front of the other.
