12/23/20--My Dad Has Been Hospitalized
Thursday, December 24, 2020
My dad (73) got his side pain figured out and it was pulmonary embolisms (blood clots in the lungs). Not good! He was admitted to the hospital and they found several not-small blood clots all through his leg, from foot to groin. He has been fighting foot issues including surgeries and staph infection for a year, but he never knew he had life- threatening issues! He is getting blood thinners but will probably be in the hospital for at least a couple more days. I'm so sorry he is having to deal with this, but so very thankful he was able to get treatment before it was too late. Imagine having blood clots in your lungs from your leg for a week and still getting treatment before a stroke or heart attack! I had symptoms for 5-6 days before my heart attack was diagnosed. I feel so blessed that we got warned with symptoms in time to get help.
The exercise I'm having to do for cardiac rehab is really hurting my arthritic, disc-compressed back. The last 2 times I've just done the treadmill thinking the bike was hurting me, but now I think it's general exercise. I cannot take Aleve anymore bc I'm already on other blood thinners, and other kinds of meds give me side effects that I'm not willing to deal with. I'm hoping that things will loosen up and hurt less the more I do. Otherwise I may have to break up the exercise into smaller pieces or something.
I'm eating a little better with less desserts and less crackers/chips, etc. and more vegetables, but this really not a lot of change, yet. I'm taking it a little at a time.
