New Year's Day

Friday, January 01, 2021

Daisy and I just got in from a very nice winter walk. It's been close to a week since we've been able to go. The temps have been too low and the wind too strong - and a couple days last week it snowed. It was 23 degrees when we went, almost no wind, and sunshine! emoticon I do love sunshine, especially in the Winter. She was so excited when she saw me put on my long underwear and pull out my boots. I wish I had taken a picture of her sitting there almost smiling at me.

And on the path - she couldn't get enough of all the new smells. We took the 1 1/2 mile path which seemed to be plowed a little bit better. I suppose I need to get my ice cleats out, would make walking easier.

I am so happy to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021. I know things won't change for awhile but I have a more hopeful feeling. I don't do resolutions any longer because I realized that year after year they were pretty much the same. But I would like to change some of the habits I've gotten into during this pandemic time. The biggest change is to get up earlier and do something other than watch the news. In the summer I have one cup of coffee with my local news station and then get out for a nice walk with Daisy. But since our first snow fall in October I've been staying in bed longer and then watching way too much news. It just depresses me. I'm thinking exercise of some sort - maybe a short yoga session would be good.

Today I did Roll & Recover with my favorite instructor, Darcy. I woke up with the worst pain in my upper back. The RnR class is just amazing. Darcy takes us from our feet to our head and hits all the trigger points and other sticky places where we hold tension in our bodies. I'd do it every day if it was available. One 45 minute session and the pain isn't gone but it's so much better!

I wish each and every one of you a very good start to this brand new year! Thank you all for being my supportive spark friends.

Roll and Recover sounds worth checking out. I haven’t been out much either because it’s been HOT. At least the weather was nice for meeting a few friends at a couple of parks where we could distance and visit.

A walk in the fresh air does a body good. Apparently Daisy instinctively knows when you're walking. If I'm just going out to work in the yard or putz around, there's not much excitement, but our dog jumps around if I'm going for a walk. Nothing's different that I can tell, but he knows. Exercise is amazing.

Happy New Year! Stay safe. Be well. emoticon

That is such a cute image of Daisy realizing you're getting ready to take her for a walk! It's really hard to get out there when it's so cold, but once you start the walk, it's refreshing and not a burden at all. So glad you could get some sunshine.

I share your hope as we're starting a new year. This coming year has to be better! Stay well and happy, Kathy!

Like you, I am more than happy to say goodbye to 2020 and hello to 2021--and i do not kid myself into thinking a magic wand has been waved and life will be automatically wonderful! .. Although, it would be nice! Funny too--that we share the same feeling regarding news. I don't do traditional NY resolutions either---But one thing i promised myself after this year was---tune out the news! I am so tired FROM it all---My hubby likes to have coffee--and sometimes we visit while watching the stuff. But he knows when I retreat soon--coffee in hand, i have had my quota. Moving on--and that's wonderful you have Daisy as your walking buddy. Onward we go--and wishing you the best!

Glad you and Daisy got a nice walk in. I haven't really felt like doing much today, my body says it is a holiday so enjoy it. And i really don't feel guilty about taken it off o guess my body needed a day off.

A walk certainly makes us feel better for sure. I need to get my gut moving and get back to more consistent exercise. Maybe before coffee???

    Happy New Year!

    Yes, just one more cuppa.
And wouldn’t it be nice to have a piece of cheery news.
My car has found a chillier overnight spot so I can leave the exercise bike out and ready for use and I can set my alarm and hit the floor before my lazy alter ego works out what’s happening.

Happy new year and may it be a better one for all of us
