Looking for Support and Advice

Saturday, January 23, 2021

INSTRUCTIONS: Read with tongue in cheek....but please do post a response.

This SP community has been the source of information, resources, and support for me during the past ten years of my membership. My friends and I have shared details of our lives that I am guessing do not appear anywhere else. We are in many ways like a close family.

And so, it is with that in mind that I bring up this personal topic....

For me. one of the benefits of being quarantined at home is that I find I can go bra-less around the house.

I never realized how much I dislike wearing my usual underwire undergarments.
I could have guessed it from the fact that for years now in the evenings, whenever I am relaxing in front of the television, one of the first things I do is remove my bra -- just to feel more comfortable.

So now, I realize it is time to get a new model... a new type ... a bra that will feel comfortable all day long...one that I would be happy to wear - even when I plan to spend the day in the house.... maybe even one that could stay on me during those relaxing evening hours.
Is there such a thing, I wonder?

Recently, I looked at some new styles on Amazon, but did not even know where to begin.
(Shortly after that, I found bra ads on my desktop when I visited other websites. So they are on to me.)

This is not a topic that usually comes up in everyday conversation - and so I have not discussed it with anyone. But I am looking for suggestions, recommendations, and thoughts, on this subject.
And I am hoping that my SP friends who have already solved this problem are willing to share their solutions with me here.

Thanks in advance.

I'm a fan of the (very inexpensive) Joe Fresh line of "mentionables"! Quite a range of styles including sports bras and bralettes . . .

A number of years ago, I went to a Macy's planning to get "a professional fit." Only young gal working & doubt she knew much, atleast no help to me. I ended up buying 2 more expensive ones that didn't get much use. Decided to do trial & error myself....see what fits comfortable & hope it's the best support.

So what is the ad to the side of your blog... Lacy bra. Did they read your blog???
Thankfully there are many options. Like the Lacy bra in the ad to the left. Depending on your needs, Sports bra tend to be the answer for me. Having frozen shoulder I needed front hooks.
But I am enjoying the freedom.
I know there is a pandemic however a bra fitting might help. You can Google "bra fitters near me" and make an appointment where it would be just you and the fitter.

My one daughter like sports bras. I'll ask her what styles.
    I can't indulge.
    Visualize Newton's Cradles.

I wear light or medium support sports bras, and since Covid and in the cooler months, I just wear a pretty sweatshirt w/o the bra. Bali used to make a comfortable wireless bra, and I have a couple that I bought several years ago that I hand wash, and wear in the summer. But you're right, when it's after dinner and you're not planning on going out, why not just go without, and let those girls breathe!

I wear sports bras exclusively now. I do not like the t-back ones. They don't offer the support that a wired bra does but who cares as long as your hooters are not swinging like a bag full of squirrels.

I have gone exclusively to some form of sports bra... no wires, no hooks. LOTS more comfy. However, that said, there are dozens, maybe even hundreds of different brands and styles, and you have to find one that's happy with your own body!
