Do Not Be Afraid to Set Boundaries!

A physician, a therapist, or a law practice makes the rules. They are professionals that open for business on certain days and hours. We conform to their standards and schedule an appointment if we wish to be seen. We do not just show up and demand to be seen on the spot! That is what emergency rooms are for. Same with retail stores. They open and close at specific hours. We can like it or dislike it, but it is the way it is.
Yet what about ourselves? Do we matter any less? We go to our place of solitude to write, or hit the books to study, or just have some solitude, and our space is invaded! It feels like a fly buzzing our head! ... an annoying beep when someone texts us—or the phone rings off the hook interrupting our rhythm. Are we obliged to be ‘open for business’ around the clock?
My haven is my study where I come most days of the week for a few interrupted hours of writing. That is my solace, my place of refuge where I set the creative juices free. My husband is compliant—as he has his own space for doing what he loves. And he knows:
Your purpose and your your vision matter. You are not a sounding board or the problem solver to the rest of the world. Life will go on—without you while you take time for you. They can call back or you can return their call—if you desire. Take time for you every day and do not be afraid to set boundaries. . No one can invade your space—unless you let them!
Claim your freedom and set some time apart just for you. Set some boundaries and soar like an eagle. Don't we deserve it?
Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
