Healthy Silver Linings

When my Mother-in-Law was living with us, I had to quit my part time job to care for her because Mom and my husband were both working full time. I was literally stuck inside 24/7 save the occasional trip to bring MIL to the doctor's office. Now my MIL is in a nursing home, Mom is retired, most of our state (including the restaurant where I work) is shut down due to COVID and my husband is still working full time. Mom and I are spending a LOT of time together. Of course this means it is up to me to make sure Mom's wellbeing is on track. I am NOT complaining. In fact, I (as usual) have found a couple of silver linings. Once a week I meet up with my dear friend for a nice long walk at one of the nearby nature preserves. The most obvious silver lining is that I get some healthy "me" time that gets Mom and I out of each other's hair for a couple of hours. The other silver lining is that since Mom still needs to walk daily - and doesn't like to walk alone (thank goodness!) - I get a bonus walk that day! Two walks + 30 minute workout = extra calories burned and extra steps on the trusty FitBit (19,891 so far and it's only 5pm). Great day!
