Where is maturity when you need it

good morning - as everyone knows in the world, Texas has been hit with a terrible power outage on top of a tremendous cold spell. the temperature was 11 yesterday 30 today. Ice on the trees - 6 inches on grown - the roads can be icy. Yesterday DH & I went to get his vaccination. the roads were passable if you knew how to drive on them. TG for my DH from Minnesota. He was in his element. I was not afraid - I could see he was doing great! Getting the vaccination was tough b/c the nurse had called in sick so they had to dig up another. The new nurse did not know the process. The 5-minute appointment with mine was like 45 for DH. Finally, he got it. The nurse called me in to ask if I did this or that at my appointment. I did notice that the next appointments went faster after DH. We got home safe. We tried to get to a store to get some food in the house. We tried 4 major stores and they had lost power too. Now I am starting to realize how widespread it is. We have power. Our son contacted me but I was taking a nap. DH answered my phone. DH invited him to come with his family - take a shower, cook a meal and sleep on the main floor (due to virus) or just come over to get warm. I knew with his wife who is stubborn & immature - they would not take us up on the invitation. Now if we said, we will have cooked a meal for you and we will watch your daughter for you so you could relax- they would be over in a heartbeat maybe. DIL and I had a falling out about 3 weeks ago. Where she called us names - all over the pre-school we wanted to send and pay for our GD. I know my son must not have any sense either. They did not come. It is warmer this morning, but still cold if you do not have power. So I know my DIL has no common sense to let her daughter stay in that apartment. I even looked into a hotel for them around us so they did not have to drive too far. They are all booked up. Smart people. I have been in situations where we had no power, we survived. I have to let go. Life to short to worry about something you have no control over. Have a good day!!
