Half-Marathon training

HM progress:

7/28 was the kick-off for the TNT training. It was an opportunity to sign up for the half-marathon and meet my teammates, coaches, mentor and honored runners.

It went very well. I also had an opportunity to learn about different ways to fundraise. There are so many options. It's hard to figure out what will work best for me.

8/4 was the first team training day. We met at Pierce College at 7am. We learned different stretches and running and walking techniques. We also spoke to the owner of Phillipedes (sp?) who taught us about the importance of wearing the correct shoe. There was also a fundraising clinic. They reiterated some of the things we learned on the 28th. We ran 3 miles that day. One mile was timed. My time was 10.20.

8/8 was our first mid-week training. We did intervals of walking 1 minute and running 3 for 25 minutes total. We broke into 3 groups based on our running/walking times from the previous Saturday. I'm proud to say I led the group I was in almost the whole way.

Our next big training is scheduled for Saturday, August 11th. We're gonna run 4 miles this time.

I'm also supposed to be training on my own on Monday's and Thursday's, but I've been so busy with my move I haven't had time. I sure hope next week will be better.
