lifting weights with the boys!

This past week I have finally pumped myself up enough to lift weights at the intramural gym. ...I know that doesn't sound like much of an achievement, but it sure feels like one to me. At all of the campus gyms there are pretty clearly defined lines of gender: the girls do cardio, lift little dumbbells and do crunches while the guys use machines and massive free weights. (I like to think that if the gym guys were a cat macro, they'd be saying "my mus-cules! let me show you them!")

It's pretty ridiculous that this has kept me from hitting the machines like I have at home, but it really has. I've always had this fear that everyone will look at me and think that I don't know what I'm doing because I'm a girl, and because I'm overweight. But now? Whatever, boys! Make room because I'm going to use your machines. I'm slowly adding more and more exercises, so let's wait and see what happens...
