My New Goal

I have given myself a new goal. I want to run the Boston Marathon by the time I am 50. I simply cannot believe that I am saying this! When I decided to change my lifestyle I never would have thought that it would lead me to the Boston Marathon! I don't even know anyone that has run it! But, I have become so much healthier and fit that this goal is definitely possible! Who knew that there was a runner hiding under that 60 lbs of blubber. I wish that I had discovered Sparkpeople and running 25 years ago. However, it's never too late and I show that to everyone on a daily basis. My friends cannot belive how much I have changed. When I told my husband and daughter about my new goal they were excited and thought that it would be a good idea. My husband even started talking about the cash rewards for finishing in the top spots. I, of course, let him know that I was not expecting to finish anywhere near the front of the pack! I was really surprised that they did not laugh and tell me I was crazy. But, they both said that they had been watching me change. They said that they knew I could do this. My daughter has been bragging to everyone she knows about how great I look and how well I am doing with my running. People are shocked when I tell them that I run about 10 miles 3 times a week. They say that they could never do it. I tell them "Yes, you can! And I can show you how!" Now I have co-workers and friends coming to me for nutrition and exercise advice. I am starting a wellness and exercise plan at work I have motivated at least 6 people to run 5k's with me. Wait til they hear about this goal!!
