Progress Update

So, I think after a couple of weeks it is about time to add an update, so here it is.

I think that overall things have been going really well. I've lost about 5-7 pounds (depending on the day and my raggedy scale...I'm getting a new one for Christmas). But, I think more importantly, I have stayed committed to the overall plan even when I have had a bad day or days.

Overall, the last couple of weeks have been tough because I've been traveling almost constantly, had several dinners and things for work and had one Thanksgiving dinner already. Some of those times I gave up on exactly counting calories because I just couldn't stand to look up one million ingredients in the tracker and there were too many things I was just guessing at. The good news is that even when I had a bad day or week and was over my goals, on a relative basis it was way better than it would have been in the past.

I think I've established some good habits and I've been eating something in the morning, drinking more water, and bringing my lunch to work. I'm thinking about portions and stuff even when I am not being perfect and I've found things I could reasonably eat even if traveling or working late or when I have to get fast food.

The one thing I have not been doing enough of is going to the gym and particularly strength training. I'm still playing volleyball/softball three days a week until the fall season is over, but that isn't a sustained workout and so I need to get at least one or two other days in at the gym. My next goal once I'm back in the office regularly is to restart going to Body Pump class once a week. I think that's the only way I will consistently get strength training in.

So, that's all for now. I think the next month will be a challenge. I'm traveling for most of the next several weeks and then we have all the holiday activities. However, I think that it will go okay and be a good foundation to keep going in the new year. My goal is to really make progress by my birthday in June. Hopefully I'll have a big party and be happy with the progress.

    oh...hhahha i just saw that this was NOT a recent post!! i am such an idiot. i was wondering why you were talking about christmas and thanksgiving...i thought maybe you guys were doing thanksgiving in the summer or something, hahahaha i am such an idiot!! i just saw the notitication that tonya had left a comment so i did too!! LOL!!!!!! OK well we need a CURRENT UPDATE miss kallam!!!!

    OH one event is the 3-day...i signed up for the 16 week training emails...i am going to definitely try to incorporate that into working out. are you walking or volunteering though, i never heard for sure on what everyone was doing...

    i am going to set a year long plan that will go from my birthday too - july to july. i am going to use all of the little "events" that i have planned throughout the year to keep me going, like convention, upcoming weddings, little trips, stuff like that.

    it sounds like you are doing a great job!! you are working little by little towards very realistic goals and trying to incorporate these changes in to your real life in a rational manner. between your job and everything else you are a busy busy girl and we all know how tough that can be when you are on the go so much. you should be very proud of yourself though for your stick-to-it-ivuness!! (umm so that might not actually be a word?) :)

    i wish i lived close to you again so we could play volleyball!!!
