Counting the extra calories I didn't count

So I've been working on not eating extras at night. I really just need to tell myself "NO!" and have willpower to not eat when I know I've had my calories for the day. I just added in all the "extras" I nibbled on last night, and I'm shocked - it all added up to 450 calories! It put me 30 calories over my top calorie limit for the day. I'm going to continue adding in all the extras the next day so I can really see what they cost, and how they are adding up. I think "one little candy heart can't hurt, it's only 30 calories" but that is not good thinking because I apply to it popcorn, leftovers, etc.

I need to make my meal plans and stick to them. I usually leave 100-200 calories of flexibility for the night, but obviously this is allowing me to go way over what I planned to eat. From now on, I'm being my own drill sargent and telling myself NO MORE at night.

    I've had to cut myself off from a calorie limit at night too. Sometimes I get SO hungry and that's when I'll allow myself a glass of milk or something yummy like Metamucil in water! Yum. The fiber does fill you up and it's a DELICIOUS orange flavor. You have to drink it fast or it turns into a gel. Dr.'s Oz and Roizen (they wrote YOU: On a Diet) also recommend Metamucil.

    I have the same problem. My snacks add up to well over a meal. I've been trying to whittle down little by little. I was horrified when I first started logging at how much I was eating before!
