I know , I know , I'm not saying I'm old , old , I still play most of the time lol. I was just saying I'm not in touch with the latest drug and theories but I do have a good intuition and some experience .
Danny , I'm with Kris in this . if the neighbors are ok ,stay there. this is not the right time to bump into another weirdo , psychopath or even not so clean neighbor.we don't know when it will end , worst case you will lose some money. money can be made again. if you will find some stellar job there , the lease will not count much. unfortunately you can't go home now to find a decent doctor so better avoid them for now.

Do the leases HAVE to be on a annual thing? Here we don't normally do it like that. I almost think if it were me, I would stay put until all this is over. You have a job, and don't have to be a job-hunter along with thousands of others who may/may not get another job.

I guess where ever you are in the world, there are always some Drs who are like that.

Omg TJ looks soooo adorable and SO happy with his cute little booties :P I love that pic, so cute.
🥰🥰🥰

I have a friend who recently had minor surgery, it was supposed to be $1800 . Well, he ended up having to pay over $8000 even though he has insurance. How is that not illegal??? it's absolutely ridiculous

And.. and... and... during my visit with this doctor, the second time he walked out of the room, I heard him talking to one of the nurses on the other side of the door. And he said something like "Yea ok let me go see this boy", referring to me!!! he referred to me as "THIS BOY" like.. the guy didn't even bother to learn my name. Ugh. And seriously, guys, this man had excellent reviews everywhere. I can't even imagine what a doctor with bad reviews would be like here. I'm still really upset about the whole experience, as you can see lol. I feel traumatized lol

lol I've seen so many stories of people like that Florida man who at first were leading stay-at-home protests, or attending quarantine parties and ended up getting infected. I really reaaaally hope they are true

Anyway... In other news, my apt lease is up in July, I have to decide this month if I want to renew it or not and I still don't know what to do. The original plan was to start looking for a job in the city where my bf and brother live (I don't want to name it lol). But, right now I cannot start a new job because the US isn't issuing any visas... and once they start issuing visas again they will probably have like a million applications so ugh, the wisest thing to do is to stay at my current job and see what happens. BUT I don't want to sign a lease and stay in this city (and this job) for a whole 'nuther year :-/ so it seems that once again, I need to start looking into renting a room so I can have a more flexible lease. Although, living with strangers during a pandemic seems like a terrible idea... ugh. I don't know what to dooooooooooo, the uncertainity kills me. And I can't stop eating, guys, lol It's almost 1am and I want to order a pizza so baaad. 🍕🍕🍕

Danny - My unqualified opinion is that the system the States has re Insurance actually increases the cost of medical care, significantly. I knew that they charged an arm and a leg, but my mouth dropped open when I saw your costs. Here the Dr's have a list of costs in the waiting room and on-line. My Dr's medical centre charges $19 per consult. My medications are mostly $5 each until I reach 20 scripts for the year (over half way there in 3 months) and then they will mostly be free. Our labs are free. A Specialist charges a lot more per consult if you go private, however a lot of us go on the Hospital waiting list and it is free. A Dr doesn't walk in/out of a consult UNLESS he/she is also seeing to someone in a very serious condition.

Glad your results came back 'kind of Ok' - but I would have preferred to hear 'TOTALLY O.k.' It's great that you are getting such a good bonus for working during this.

I think that in general a lot of people have their heads in the sand over the pandemic. They put 'their rights' to do whatever they like above all else and stuff everybody else. Boris Johnson changed his tune totally after he nearly died from it, and so too did this guy
www.facebook.com/watch/?v=2585703598310531

Kori - I LUV'd Dr Quinn :-) BTW - you are NOT OLD ... you are YOUNGER than me and *I* am not *OLD* lol. Spondylitis isn't a nice condition to have.

I've only go 3 more days of one lot of drops to go in my eye and then the other type I am also using will be another 2 weeks. That's the only thing about the surgery that annoys LOL!

I don't understand how a lot of online consults work. I know that a lot can easily be done that way, but there are a lot where you really need to totally eyeball the patient (no pun intended given your specialty LOL) and do a literal hands-on approach. In NZ 75% of the medical consults were over the phone during the lock-down. My post-op appt. was over the phone.

Pelos I'm glad you like your Latina sunshine ;-)

Now for something cute .... TJ. When my son and son-in-law came back in February, they gave him Mickey Mouse gumboots (what else when the givers are total cartoon/animation nerds LOL)

I'm glad you're finally starting to enjoy it lol I mean... the whole situation is a mess but, there's not much we can do... I get frustrated because here they started reopening everything already. I see a lot of people on FB groups organizing boat parties for those who "feel ready to go out". Ugh even on the radio, I keep hearing these ads saying that if you "feel ready" please go out and support your local businesses because they need you. Like wth is that supposed to mean??? feeling "ready"??? ughhhh it's so annoying... but again, there's not much I can do about it so I'm just enjoying the little positive things this mess has brought...

Kori you are NOT old :P stop iiiit. I didn't ask you because I kind of already knew what I had... I just needed the prescription. And I haven't really told anyone at all, I was just really upset by the whole thing. Tests came back kind of Ok. But I'm not gonna die or anything lol. I'm ok. 😘

still at home and starting to enjoy it emoticon . the hospital is still closed , God knows why , there are really few patients left. we had like 6 managers in 2 months , the local authorities from 2 different political parties fight each other using us in the middle , life is fun. my spondylitis sort of exploded , I was totally stiff last week , using mom's wheelchair (she calls it "the bike" ) , now it's better but I'm still having great pain.meanwhile I'm solving stuff in the 2 houses , like buying a fridge and a washing machine for the other apartment before the mall will reopen and people will sleep there for 3 months emoticon
you're absolutely right Danny about doctors there , that was one of the reasons I never wanted to emigrate , medicine there is a business, I hate it. here I can still consult anyone without caring about insurance, especially emergencies . if I need 3 hours for a complicated case then I keep him 3 hours and we always can chat with nice people. you can't consult properly more people on the same time and even if you can , they don't understand anything.well , USA is famous for one of the worst health insurance in the world. best surgery , lab tests, advanced medical equipment, but everything giga expensive. why didn't you ask me? emoticon I hope lab tests results were good. please tell me when you have something , I might be an ophthalmologist and old emoticon but the system here forces me to be a sort of doctor Quinn (even if colleagues tell me I'm more like dr House but nah , I'm not that smart , though my foot hurts like his' lol). well , do that on whatsapp, I'm sure it's not allowed to say anything here. even if an online consultation is NOT and it will never be a real consultation. if the patient is not in front of you , it's just medical chatting and divination and taking money for that is a fraud emoticon

lol... Pelos... :P that's you emoticon not me.

Hi guys... how have you been?

Kris, are you fully recovered from your surgery now? :O I didn't know that was such a simple surgery, everthing that has to do with eyes sounds scary to me. I'm glad it went well.

Pelos... are you still working from home?

Koriii what about youuu? still at home?

I've been kind of in a mood. I had my first real experience with the healthcare system here and OMG... guys. I knew it was bad but I honestly wasn't expecting it to be THIS horrible, it's ridiculous. I went to the Dr a few weeks ago because I had... well, some concerns. Nothing too serious but serious enough to make me search for a doctor in the middle of a pandemic. Anyway, I found a specialist through my insurance website... He had really good reviews and was close to where I live.

I made an appointment and it went well. He ordered like a million lab tests for me and gave me a flu shot and 2 other vaccines... which I thought was ok because I hadn't been to the doctor in a while. But I was kinda worried about the cost because you simply don't know, they don't tell you how much it's gonna cost... like... I did some research and I figured it would be maybe around $350-500 if my insurance didn't cover anything, but there's not way of knowing beforehand.

To my surprise, my insurance covered ALL the lab tests, part of the like... doctor fees (la consulta? not sure what to call it), and part of the medication. Which was awesome. I still got a bill 2 weeks after from the clinic for $265... so I was like "oh ok this is not THAT bad".... BUT then I got another bill, and another bill, and another bill... and another bill. I got like 8 different bills.

I only had the first appointment and a follow up appointment which didn't last more than 10min. Well, somehow I ended up with a $850+ bill. Even though my insurance did cover a BIG chunk of it. So those $850 are just for the 10-15 minute appointments I had. And you know what? It's not even about the money, What bothers me the most is that the attention is T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E.

It was the same with my dentist, like... doctors here are so cold act like they are always in such rush and they keep coming in and out of the room because they are seeing other patients at the same time!!. This doctor didn't even warn me about the really awful side effects this medication had... I only knew about it because I googled it, otherwise I would have freaked out after taking it. It's ridiculous.

I don't know how it is where you guys live... Maybe I'm spoiled but I'm used to doctors at least pretending to care about you. All the doctor visits I had before were at least 30-60min and they actually treated you like a person, tried to get to know you and stuff... AND THE MOST IMPORTANT PART - you know exactly how much it will cost!!!!!! even without insurance I wouldn't have paid more than... maybe $100? in MX, medicine included. And with much nicer caring doctors. This is BS. 🙄... Why isn't people more upset about this??

On a happier note... they're giving us a "Hero Bonus" at work. Which is like almost 25% of our salary... so now I kinda secretly want the lockdown to last longer 😅

And on Thursday a.m. we go down to level 2 which means that most shops will be open but with restrictions, and bars and the like will be opening a couple weeks later, but again with heavy restrictions.

Thank you Kori. Her just-turned 13yr old son made her a cup of coffee in bed for mother's day, and then repeated it the next day for her birthday. He needed some supervision, and it may sound like 'so what?" however this is the first time ever he has made a drink, let alone a coffee, and given his autism it is a major achievement, and particularly for those two occasions emoticon

It amuses me when they use "alert" in that context. Boris Johnson did too. We should ALL be "alert" regardless, and not just with Covid LOL!

I was really surprised to see how BLUE the sky actually is looking from my right eye. I had thought it was a murky blue all summer LOL! My left eye still says it is a murky blue. At this stage I can see some things better out of that eye, but not others - depends how far away they are.

I had s real good sleep last night and no pain discomfort at all. The inner corner of my eye is only slightly bloodshot. The dressing came off this a.m. the Dr phoned me this a.m. and is happy. I go back down for a check in about a month. No worries about lifting weights. I've been on weight restrictions for years. Only supposed to be a maximum of 5kg. I will be careful .... Promise 😁 I had thought outside would be too much of a glare, but found it wasn't. My glasses are self tinting outside, so wonder if I'll actually need to wear dark clip-ons over my glasses. Our days aren't bright glarey days like in summer. I'm driving home tomorrow. I think I noticed an improvement in my right eye vision compared to this a.m. which then was about the same as normal ..... MAYBE a tiny bit improved on pre-op.

the surgery nowadays is with minimal trauma ,so most people are feeling well after it. just don't lift anything heavy and beware dust , allergens , steam or anything that could harm the eye. you should already be used with the don't touch your eye rule lol . I suppose they removed the bandage by now , how is it?
it seems in 2 weeks or such they will reopen my hospital for regular patients.it's complicated cause there still are corona carriers but I hope we'll manage. I'm glad that "life" got in the way of the plans of those who were hoping to make profit from the coronavirus, that didn't go too well emoticon ( I hope it stays that way , few patients to none)
someone please tell Debs that we miss him emoticon
Pelos , are you all right now? it took me 4 months to recover from the january pneumonia , I'm almost sure it was the virus but I'm afraid to take the test yet , there are many false positive or negative results and I don't want to be hospitalized for 6 weeks , I usually die in 2 days there emoticon

Thanks Pelos. I had it today and came out of the theatre at 12:30 my Motel was a very easy walk. It turned out I didn't need to stay here overnight because they will phone me in the a.m. to check, and I don't have to go in. I kinda gulped at the Taxi this a.m. when I asked the price when I booked, the owner thought about $140. It was $175.50 each way. He's picking me up at 10 a.m. beats getting picked up at 6:30a.m. like this a.m. 😂 😎 this will be me tomorrow.
I will stay at my daughter's again tomorrow night. So far, 9:30p.m. I haven't had any pain, discomfort or irritation. It just feels like normal except I've got a dressing over my eye.

Kori - NZ has only ever had a maximum of about 12 cases in hospital at any one time, and only a max of 3-4 in ICU. As of today 20 Covid deaths total - none today and no new cases today either. Where I am having the op is a day stay and OP Clinics mainly for Respiratory, Renal, and Ophthalmology, and isn't attached to the main hospital.

Danny - I read a LOT of that tweet. It was powerful and anyone who claims it is just 'scaremongering' really needs their head read. UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, was verging on that for quite a while and was saying it was best to allow for herd immunity, but man, did he change his tune after he got it and nearly died. Those with their heads in the sand tend to focus too much on those who have been asymptomatic or just very mild symptoms, but what should they ignore the many MANY others who have had it more serious. If it were them, they would also change their tune. Some people have to experience something for it to sink in. It's all very well protesting to be able to go back to work or be able to have parties, etc. but what good is that when they have died because they didn't practice caution?

Don't crop ALL your tshirts and hoodies - when it is cooler they won't be as warm LOL!

When someone asks you what you like doing for fun, state what you said here. Maybe they might be able to think of a way you can enjoy that where you are, too.

I want a pic of your face mask with you wearing it :-)

Kris, I've never been too much into embroidery but this past week I made some hand -sewn masks since now I have to wear one ALL day at work. They turned out really cute, I received lots of compliments and it reminded me how much I love sewing projects.
I accidentally ordered a cropped hoodie a few weeks ago (didn't know it was cropped) and I really LOVE the look and now I want to crop all my sweatshirts and hoodies and tshirts :P and I thought it would be a good idea to learn how to alter other clothes since I always have a hard time finding clothes that fit anyway, that's why I wanted to get a sewing machine.

lol I think I did become boring. A coworker asked me what I liked doing for fun and I couldn't come up with anything... I guess I haven't been able to uhmm... "transfer" my hobbies here. I used to love being outdoors but here the weather, the huge insects and the fact that the streets aren't really made for pedestrians have made me hate being outside...
I used to love gardening, but well, living in an apt makes it kinda impossible. I used to woodworking but, same thing, not enough space for tools. I used to love crafting and DIYing but here usually DIYing something is more expensive than just buying it so it doesn't feel like it's worth it emoticon

In MX I used to love just "going out to get an ice cream" or something... but that meant going to a park or a little cute plaza and buy ice cream or whatever from a street vendor and walk around the artisan markets or buying cute handicrafts or something... Here going for an ice cream means just driving to the nearest Dairy Queen :-/. Even things like malls are different and I can't even explain why!! At least here, most malls look really old and are completely dead, it's strange. I used to love just going to the mall, getting a bubble tea, going to the cinema by myself... but here malls are like... a thing of the past, I've even heard people say it.

I don't know. I know I need to stop being nostalgic and just adapt and find new hobbies but I haven't been able to do that so far.

lol yea, don't even get me started on the stay-at-home protests *sigh*... Here it was mandatory to wear a face mask only for like 3 days. But now it's just "recommended". My bf sent me this today : twitter.com/bessbell/status/12570578701362
42176

I sent it to a coworker who posted some pictures at the park today and he just got offended lol emoticon

Kori, 3 times more expensive??? omg that's crazy. Prices are the same here as always. And lately it's been really easy to find available dates for either grocery delivery or pickup. Last week I was finally able to find toilet paper and soy milk so things seem to be getting back to normal at least re: grocery stores...

Kris , I'm glad to hear that , it's a sign things are almost normal there. well , idk , my friend in France also started to work again, even if they still have tons of cases. my hospital is still covid only and ophthalmology is closed ._. , right now it's a dormitory for the others . we have like 1/7 beds occupied with patients in the hospital , which makes me quite rabid , no , I'm not enjoying it Danny cause idk what happens next and I wish they would let me go to work and do something , they seem to have zillions of extra papers to do , why can't they let me do that. both my colleagues said it would be impossible for me to put on and off the stupid suit and we're all tired of the stupid situation and wish the hospital would open for the other patients too , there seem to be few cases and few serious. people are going out like crazy here too even if the relaxation will only come from 15th May.
I'm glad that you, your family and bf are fine. just remind everyone to keep a distance and keep the habits of washing and disinfecting and it will be fine.
I'm sure you will find later that sewing machine , I miss to see your crafting too emoticon .
how are the prices there? here they skyrocketed , food and everything is at least 3 times more expensive emoticon

Yep, I will. I managed to get 500mls Alcohol Sanitizer a couple weeks ago, and I've always got bucket-loads of surgical gloves here and there are always some in whatever handbag I'm using. A remnant of my First Aider days LOL. I'm taking plenty of the sanitizer to spray on the loo seat, etc. to let sit for a while before I use it.

They Taxi drivers MUST sanitize the seats and headrests, door etc. and anything else a client might touch, between each passenger.

Have you thought about doing some hand-sewing or embroidering a plain teeshirt with a little motif for relaxation?

That photo sure doesn't look like any social distancing going on. If that had been in NZ they would have had the bums' rush and more than a few would have been fined.

I have watched some of the protests in the States, and read that one of the organizers came down with Covid-19. I think Boris Johnson (UK Prime Minister) hastily changed his mind about the 'bit of flu' when he came down with it. By all accounts, he nearly died.

I think when you shifted there, you didn't become 'really boring' at all, but rather more settled in yourself and the fact you mention "4 years" and "time flies" indicates that you are more settled. What's the saying? "Time flies when you're having fun!"

It's at the main lake/river here. Someone posted the picture online, It was ridiculously crowded, I had never seen it so crowded before... Let's see if I can zoom in on the image...

Lately people have been posting lots of pics of parks, trails, lakes, etc, which are just as ridiculously crowded.

Well, I guess NZ is living proof that more strict measures do work and solve the problem faster. We have very similar rules here, they just haven't been enforced.
Please be super careful!! If you still have disposable gloves, use them! And lots and lots of hand sanitizer! emoticon

Anyway, I wanted to reconnect with some of my old hobbies so I thought about getting a sewing machine but they're sold out everywhere lol... I guess it's because of all those people making face masks? I don't know. I really need to get back into my hobbies, I think that would reduce my stress levels. I realized I became a really boring person since I moved here.... and it's been almost 4 years since I moved here!!... time flies.

Danny - I don't have much option about a taxi, unfortunately, but by law at the moment, the passenger must sit in the back, diagonally from the driver, and the driver has to wear a mask, and payment has to be contactless. Because we have been in a harder lock-down than most countries, we have been having to stay in our own homes and not travel. Cops were on the roads en force and turning people around if they couldn't show proof of why they were on the road, and the proof had to be for groceries or medical. They have even followed a couple to where they were going to ensure that they were telling the truth. They had taken the driver's physical driver's license off him to be given back at their destination LOL! The motel is one that the hospital suggested to me 2-3 months ago. Because of the lock-down, they have virtually been closed, and I had a look online. It has wonderful reviews, including for cleanliness.

Our malls, restaurants and shops are still closed, however we can order online and have them couriered, OR use 'click and collect' - again, contactless.

I can understand your dreams. I have read quite a few psychologists' various articles which all state that situations such as what we are facing globally now, trigger a large percentage of people to have restless sleep, weird dreams or nightmares. I've been affected by them too. I'm not noticeably stressed about the situation, however it obviously plays on our subconscious. I don't work or get out, so my risks are lower than yours.

What are they doing in the photo? Having a water party?

Kris oh that's great! I hope it goes well, Level 3 lockdown still sounds kinda serious...? But if there are so few new cases I guess it should be fine, stay safe! Can't your daughter drive you to the hospital? Taking a taxi and staying at a motel seems a bit risky

Here in TX they just re-opened all the malls, restaurants, museums, libraries and retail stores... supposedly they're only allowed to operate at 25% capacity but I'm sure that's not going to happen. They have been reporting around 1000 new cases everyday these past few days (just in TX) so obviously it is WAY too soon. Oh, well... emoticon

Pelos, is that in BR? emoticon I'm still really offended that you didn't even tell us that you were sick, so I'm not talking to you lol.

Kori, I hope you're enjoying your medical leave emoticon that's great news

I haven't slept well lately, I've been having all sorts of weird dreams and nightmares. I guess I'm kind of stressed but I'm not even sure why. I don't really feel that stressed... I got tired of scolding my stupid coworkers and trying to convince stupid people that Covid 19 is real so right now I just feel like "meh, whatever happens, happens". My family is safe, my bf is safe... I still have a job. I shouldn't really be stressed but I guess I am.
They're still providing lunch everyday at work... plus I've been kind of stress eating. I've been eating way more than usual so I'm also kinda terrified I might be gaining weight, ugh.

I've got some news!!

I'm getting my Cataract Surgery on Wednesday. The hospital phoned me yesterday a.m. Since we have dropped from Level 4 to Level 3 lock-down, and as the new Covid cases are single digits now, the hospitals are taking some elective surgery cases again.

I'm going to stay at my daughter's on Tuesday night so it will save 20 minutes on on my travel which will still be over an hour. It means I won't have to get up QUITE so early in the a.m. I have booked into a Motel about 400 metres from the hospital because I have to go back the following day, and then a taxi will take me back to my daughter's on Thursday. $140 EACH WAY for the taxi :-( I will possibly stay at my daughter's Thursday night too, before I drive home on Friday.

Good one Kori. 11th May is my daughter's birthday. Hopefully it can be extended.

Pelos - I loved the sea lion LOL! VERY talented emoticon

We moved down to Level 3 lock-down today, but it is fairly similar to Level 4. Some work has opened but it has to be contactless and doesn't include Malls, hairdressers etc. For me it is really no different, however I don't mind. Corona-virus has been deemed 'eliminated' in NZ .... not eradicated. The new cases have dropped way down in the single digits on a daily basis.

from what I understood the hyper immune reaction in severe cases appears in the 2nd week or 3rd week so he should pass the dangerous phase soon. your aunt sounds fine , I hope she stays that way. there were here many people very old or very sick that recovered just fine , there is hope for anyone. just tell you parents to be as careful as they can emoticon . and keep us posted please

I hope that your family recover very soon, Danny.

It is quite possible that you guys may have had the virus without knowing it. I guess that when an accurate test to determine if you have HAD it come in, you would be able to find out.

I'm just glad I haven't had to mix with others and am mostly in my own bubble, and NZ's positive and probable cases is quite low at 1470 and deaths at 18. This isn't just those tested or died in a hospital - it includes Rest Homes and the general community as well.

sorry to hear dani. I hope they recover soon emoticon

I don't know anyone infected but I too suspect I might have had it about a month ago. i never get sick. (NEVER) but a few weeks ago i had what seemed like a cold or flu on steroids and it lasted for almost a week. but of course i never got tested. i dont even have a thermometer. i kept working from home, i had to finish some projects but i was feeling like crap. i guess we'll never know for sure.

lol , try to calm her down. there were similar cases here , when some of the family didn't get infected. they know very little about the virus and the tests aren't that accurate so he might have carried it to her . we have a nurse that tested negative and after 2 weeks tested positive. I wish there was an accurate test to know if you had it cause I think my december -january pneumonia was actually this. I wish there was a coherent idea about the treatment too ._. . everything seems more and more weird. and all these announcements that in october we'll have a new spike . really? why? so what if the flu epidemic will start? flu is flu , different virus. only if you already plan to count all the flu cases as covid emoticon . anyway everything is covid these days. your tooth aches ? it must be covid emoticon . you have 95 yo? you died of covid . did you have a head trauma , loss of blood and so on? sorry , if you didn't have covid you had a chance emoticon

That's good news, Kori. Good luck emoticon

This week was the medical lab professionals week and it was the saddest thing ever now that 80% of the lab staff is gone lol :-/ but they still got us some cute gifts and... they have been providing lunch everyday since the chaos started. It does make me feel a bit more appreciated.
I'm really starting to enjoy working in an empty lab, though... anyway, other than that, things are pretty much the same here. They already started re-opening businesses in some states... TX governor wants to open all the bars, restaurants, etc early May. I think it's wait too soon but oh well. I decided to stop worrying... I'll just do my part and that's it.

My aunt (my mom's oldest sister) tested positive... but she's actually fine so far. She got tested because her husband is a doctor and one of his patients tested positive. He's the one who claims that HIV doesn't exist, remember Kori? so anyway, he's an idiot who wasn't taking any precautions to keep his family safe but actually, he tested negative but my aunt tested positive for covid-19... so yea :-/ maybe she got it somewhere else, she wasn't being very careful either... My mom's cousin tested positive too, he's been hospitalized for 2 weeks... So ugh. My mom is super worried, I'm worried too but I'm more worried about my mom being worried. :-/

Our lock-downs are one of the most restrictive in the world, but certainly not the MOST restrictive. The reasoning was to virtually eradicate it in NZ rather than just 'contain' it. Here, the only people who can walk together are those in their own 'bubble' - in other words, those who live together. Only 1 person can do the groceries, UNLESS it is a solo parent who HAS to take their children because they are too young to be left at home. We can't go out for a drive, even if we stay in the car. We can only drive for medical or supermarket reasons. We can't go swimming, hunting, boating, kayaking, hiking etc. because they have to potential for putting rescuers at risk if something happens. When it goes to Level 3 on Wednesday, we will be able to swim or surf, but not boat, and hunting is allowed but only on private property and no 4-wheeled drive is allowed to be used. We can extend our 'bubble' for those in my situation re living by themselves, or to include someone else in a similar situation or people who are more 'fragile', but that is all. More people will be allowed to go back to work, but with big restrictions. 75% Medical appointments are mostly being done via phone or internet. Effectively, for most of the population it will be Level 4 (with very minor changes) still. Level 3 will be going for 2 weeks to be reviewed at that time whether to extend or drop to Level 2.

wow , your lockdown looks more serious than ours. here the only real restriction is for people over 65 yo who are allowed to go out only between 11-13 am. everybody must have a paper where you fill your personal data and the reason for you go out , pointing which way you go. oh and only 3 people are allowed to walk together.schools are closed , of course , I have no idea about fast food because I wouldn't eat anything not cooked by me these days. we can also shop online but I didn't do that yet, I barely can walk anymore , I have to get out somewhere.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you, Kori.

Every thing is hunky dory here.

I went out on Wednesday to do some grocery shopping. I didn't need to (hadn't been grocery shopping for 5 weeks), but the 2 supermarkets in town had really good specials on beef bolar roasts and a few other things that I use often, plus I was out of my bananas, so I decided I would go on in. I snuck along to my daughter's after and took her some feijoas and a couple avocado for my g/son. After our Level 4 lockdown reduces to Level 3 Monday night, I will be included in their bubble so I will be allowed to go to their place and them to me. They are allowing extended bubbles when a person lives by themselves or are vulnerable. Some more work (construction and similar) will be allowed to restart, and drive-thru food joints like McDonald's where it can be done contactless. We can shop on-line stores for essentials, tho'.

I only realized a couple days ago when a Greek SparkFriend told me that there were 'two' times Easter is celebrated. Something to with what calendar they use - Gregorian as opposed to Julian.

oww noo :( poor mouse. Ok, I'm definitely a dog person lol now I know for sure emoticon

They're not manufacturing Nintendo Switch consoles atm because the factories in China are closed. So they're sold out everywhere anyway :(

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you Koriiii :( I'm actually really worrried about you. I really hope they don't call you.
In Mx some healthcare workers are being attacked and kicked out of their homes... *sigh* stupid ppl. I'm really worried about my parents too.
Today, about 80% of the lab staff (at my work) was furloughed. I was one of the few survivors and now I have survivor guilt lol :-( it makes me really sad.

you need a nintendo console for that , right? it's a bit expensive and idk what will happen to my salary. keep your fingers crossed so they don't call me , I wrote them a paper with my physical limitations , idk if it counts for anything. we can't communicate at all with them, well I suppose they don't have time.and the state of emergency will last for another month,no normal law will function (for us , the ones against us are just fine ) .

I simply replied "No." and my post got removed emoticon the whole thread wasn't considered political but my post apparently was. emoticon i stopped using the trackers a long time ago. there r better apps for that. im only here for u emoticon but if u guys r throwing quarantine parties in animal crossing it might be time for me to get a switch lel.................

Hey guys,
just wanted to let you know I'm still alive, Debs is fine too. I visit his island on Animal Crossing almost everyday lol... I've been visiting my sister's and my brother's islands too and it's kinda awesome. You can voice chat with them when you're visiting so it kinda feels like I'm actually in the same room as them. I think this game is what is keeping a lot of us sane during this time.

I really wish you guys played too :P you're the only reason I keep coming to this website anyway. I don't think Debs is coming back. This whole getting-your-posts-randomly-deleted-"by accident" thing is getting old. No wonder the message boards here are dead and flooded with stupid one-word posts. It's kind of a shame.

So anyway, I'm ok. I've been learning new recipes... and I've probably been eating more than I should emoticon I don't even want to weight myself. I finally started exercising again yesterday but I don't think my downstairs neighbors are too happy about it lol. Wearing face masks is now mandatory here so yesterday I had to sacrifice a T-shirt to make one. It turned out kinda cute. And that's it, nothing new over here... I hope you guys are doing ok emoticon

emoticon still at home , not knowing what will happen next. they don't have time to think about the ambulatory yet. I don't even know what I hope anymore. I'm trying to live each day as it comes, no plans , no future. I'm still convinced that most people die because no one gets the proper treatment for chronic illnesses anymore , everything is almost covid only. Germany doesn't do that , all the hospitals are half covid , half non covid and it shows on the low mortality

Yeah - I think, by and large it's a pretty good country to live in. We do have some hiccups but not like, perhaps, the majority. AND our leader talks to us like we are real people and not lecturing us LOL! She gives regular updates from her home at night too, and she doesn't necessarily dress up to the nines LOL!

There is no issue with asking about the death rate in any city. There is one post that was deleted by accident, and I apologize for that. Everything else that was deleted included some political commentary or profanity. Here is a screenshot of the one that was accidentally removed (we do not have a way to actually restore the original):

lol just checking. Well, since apparently asking about the death rate in another city (that isn't even in the US) is considered political now.... I guess we'll have to turn this thread into yet another super interesting one-word answer thread... Those seem to be welcome here.

So, post a emoticon if you're still alive :D

It looks like I needed to remind some that religious posts are also covered in the Community Guidelines and are not allowed in public forums.

We realize that everyone is concerned about the coronavirus and chatting here with your Spark friends can be a good outlet and even a source of info, which is great. But when posting, keep in mind that our Community Guidelines ( www.sparkpeople.com/resource/motivation_ar

) prohibit posting political topics in the public forums. We removed quite a few posts from this thread today. Please refrain from posting more political-type topics here. You are welcome to post that in Spark Teams that were created for that purpose. Even there, we expect members to keep things civil and respectful.

Thank you for your understanding and for complying with our Guidelines in the future.

Maybe we should have a daily check in so the rest of us here won't worry?

With a bit of luck it appears that our numbers in NZ have started to take a downward curve. Fingers and toes are crossed pretty tightly.

me too, I'm more afraid of the morons with power these days. the rumor is that we will be forced to work 14 days without leaving the hospital then 14 quarantine idk where. if you do that to me, I'm dead without any virus, mom too.
that's what scares me about USA , you need a public health system for this stuff, you can't expect people to pay while they lose any source of income.not to talk about using research to make a vaccine , not just money

I meant there is no specific treatment for this virus, the most important thing is your own immunity . they are hospitalized to get symptomatic treatment and if necessary the ICU treatment. they use some antiviral meds used for other viruses. most people that I know who had it had mild symptoms , not extremely bad. I hope it stays that way.if not , we're doomed , our hospitals can't do much, we miss everything . it's very weird , the virus seem to do different things in every country emoticon

Uhmm.... lol what do you mean?? if there's no treatment why are there so many people hospitalized with Covid-19?? That costs thousands and thousands of dollars. I mean, if that doesn't count as treatment I don't know what does.

sweetie , there is no treatment. I hope they don't mean to pay ICU, who could do that. they use some HIV treatment here , tamiflu, some antibiotics, it depends paracetamol(acetaminophen ). I refuse to believe vitamin C is bad , it's good for all viruses , why not here. as for the hyper inflammatory phase , I don't understand why they say NSAI are bad. some common cold medication , some vitamins , something for cough and you can't really do more
oh and in your case tangerines , make sure you have a ton emoticon emoticon

I don't know anything about benefits here, to be honest. But I know that at least with this particular "stimulus check", you will get it the same way you get your tax refund. So if you always get your refund deposited into your account, you will get this money the same way. If you normally get it by mail, you will get it by mail.

Yes, as far as I'm concerned, you are responsible for paying for your own Covid-19 treatment. My health insurance sent an email saying they would waive all costs related to testing... but they didn't mention anything about treatment so I guess you still have to pay for that. That's why I was more concerned about losing my insurance lol :-/ ugh...

hahaha - I wouldn't disagree with you .... re MOST things here :-) To date about 800,000 workers have been paid the wage subsidy. Given that we are a population of only 4.8 million, I think that isn't too bad given we haven't been in lockdown for quite 2 weeks yet.
