Many nights I take Melatonin. But in the past hot bath, warm milk, lavender oil, reading a book.

My wife swears melatonin works, as does our daughter. I've never tried it, but I have never had trouble sleeping.

If I set the TV timer for 10 minutes (that is "if"), I'm never awake when the TV goes off. So I probably fall asleep in about 3 to 5 minutes.

I use liquid Melatonin......a couple of drops puts me out in 10 minutes every time

For me, a change of location usually helps. I will get out of bed and go stretch out on the couch. I put on an old movie I've seen a million times, so I have some quiet background noise but I won't feel the need to actually watch. I'm usually asleep within minutes.

Read a book, a physical book, not an e-book.

E-books emit blue light that will keep you up. So, you will need to read a real physical paper book!

My suggestion : the Bible! Best for putting you to sleep and good for you!

I have tried telling myself that worrying about things at night does not change anything. This calms me and then I try to clear my mind and usually I am able to fall asleep. emoticon

I wake up probably 5 times a night. It drives me crazy. Of course my husbands snoring doesn't help. I slept better when I exercised alot. Working on getting back to that!

My husband tells me to clear my "busy" thoughts and replace them with "happy" thoughts. So last night I picked one thing to think about—what yummy dish I would bring to a cookout on Saturday night. I love to cook and feed others so it made me happy and I fell right asleep. Mind you, my husband can fall asleep at a stoplight so anything he tried would work for him.

Careful with melatonin if you take certain meds, it does not go with some medications. Let us know if anything worked so this thread doesn’t go on for years with the same answers, over and over.
