He loves fast food, so he ordered what he knows and loves. He does not know any better...
Sad, really, that top athletes were served junk food. My husband played football through college, and foods like that were definitely avoided.

Archi....good one! But I'm certain he would say he "knows more than the chefs"....

First time in a long while I've thought seriously about renewing my Canadian Visa, and renting a cabin long term from my ex living up there...! Life here is getting more down by the day...

There are a million caterers in the DC area who could have provided great food instead of that disgusting spread. Cold hamburgers and fries, yum. Not!

Also, I know the Clemson Tigers are young men but aren't they athletes? I'm sure they are super careful with their diets.

Jose Andres is my hero.

LADY,

You'll enjoy this.

according to this morning's news (reading the presidential tweets), the president said,"“So I had a choice. Do we have no food for you? Because we have a shutdown? Or do we give you some little quick salads that the first lady will make, along with the second lady. They’ll make some salads."

My favorite reply to that comes from Jose Andres, James Beard award winning chef.

"In my house I make the salads! @realDonaldTrump do you want a class Sir?"

No the Team didn't choose anything.... T made the decision, and ordered it in...and according to the articles/news media, made sure people knew he paid for it himself. (How magnanimous of him) Gees....always about "himself"....

At least he could have called Costco and served Lasagna/Salad/Roasted Chicken Dinner..... Probably would have cost less as well!! (I find it difficult to believe that ALL the White House kitchen staff are furloughed...so No One in that building knows how to turn on an oven, and put out paper plates?!)

I will be gracious and stop my commentary there....

I don't call eating cold burgers and chips 'fun' - I DO enjoy eating Pizza cold, however. I also find it more filling that way.

I saw that on our news, too. I will say, I bet he is the only President who has done THAT LOL! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I listened to him wonder how much would be left by the end of the night. Has anyone heard if there was any left, and if so, how much? I'm curious ... emoticon

I would have felt embarrassed! I mean ,he is the President!!!! He could certainly afford a better nutritional dinner than that!!!!!

McDonalds, Wendy's and Burger King

First off, congratulations to the Clemson Tigers for an amazing football game.

Since this website is dedicated to learning to live a healthy lifestyle; I'm curious to see what Spark member thoughts are with regards to the food served to the Clemson Tigers.

If you read the various articles, because the White House cooking staff is on furlough (that's an argument for a different thread), the President opted to purchase dinner for the team using his own money.

My question is what do you think of the CHOICE of the food ? Big Macs, Whoppers, Wendy's burgers, pizza, fries, assorted sauces, etc. The President said he wanted to have some fun and called it,"great American food".

Now, I totally get that Clemson Tigers football players are young men who probably enjoy eating at McDonalds or Burger King. And I understand that this could have been just a way to have some fun.

What bothered me was how the food was described,"great American food". It
may be American food, but I certainly wouldn't call it great.

Wouldn't a catered BBQ have been a better choice than the foods that many dietitians and nutritionists would call a heart attack on a plate. And I get it, the Clemson Tiger players probably aren't worried about their cholesterol.

However, how would you feel if you were served cold fast food ?
