I primarily let my hunger dictate the timing, food choices, and quantities. I have issues with non-diabetic hypoglycemia, as well as chronic low blood pressure, so I find that eating lesser amounts more often leaves me feeling better --- so I use the clock to remind to "check in" with my physical status and determine whether or not I AM hungry, and for what.
With that in mind, if I had been quite hungry in the morning and chosen a larger-than-usual breakfast, then I most likely would end up having a lighter or later lunch (or both), depending on how I was feeling.

I would say let your hunger guide you, but having something light might make it easier to go back to your normal schedule so that you aren't starving (and then over eat) at your next meal. Small salad? Piece of fruit?

Eating by the clock got me into the weight troubles I have today. However, I use intermittent fasting with a limited window of eating time, so there is still a clock element in my eating. Within the window, I let hunger signals guide me. I stay pretty well hydrated all day so I know they are truly hunger signals, and not thirst.

I eat mostly by the clock. On the rare occasion that I'm not hungry at a particular mealtime, I usually just skip that one. Sometimes I'll eat either a full meal or a snack at a later time; other times I won't. But it's usually not even much of a choice because I nearly always AM hungry when it's time for a meal.

During the work week, I have to eat when it's my breaks, hungry or not. The times vary daily and there are times when my lunch is very late: 12:45 PM to 1:15 PM. I eat breakfast around 7 AM am am so hungry by then. To get a consistent lunch time, I would need a doctor's note and to jump through HR hoops.Believe you me, I am looking for a better job.

I mostly eat around the same times each day, however those are often the times that I am hungry. Having said that, I pretty much each the same types/mix of foods each day, and most are relatively filling and nearly all are very healthy. I guess if I ate junk I would be hungry not that long after eating it, and need something else to take the edge off.
What happens if you have had a heavy breakfast, then it comes time for lunch but you are still full? Will you eat a little something just because it's time for lunch or will you eat later when you are actually hungry?
