I went to a local computer store to check out the Black Friday sales. crowded, but the lines were moving. The brick and mortar stores have been running some great sales to entice the cyber shoppers back to the stores.
I only hit places like Macy's for the spectator sport. The sales has to be beyond spectacular for me to stand in a line 50 people deep.
Like others, I usually shop from the comfort of my computer chair. LOL

I caved in! After dialysis today, I had to take a cab to the mall to meet my Mom & her friend. She couldn't come get me bcoz she wanted a parking space in the mall carpark.
I thought ok, if I go to the mall by cab instead of home, I will save a total of RM3. My Mom wanted to head home ard 2pm but I opted to stay back to have a look round. I am glad I did bcoz I got a good yoga mat with carrier bag for ard RM44! & the blouse I ordred from a boutique arrived today!
All in all, a very successful shopping trip! The crowds wasn't that bad but there were long queues everywhere! I reached the bus stand ard 3pm. The bus finally moved ard 4:20pm. It was pleasant waiting though, there was a nice strong breeze blowing!

New Zealand is just starting to do the Black Friday sales. Talk about copy cat's :-(
However, I will say that today it paid off for me. I've been getting lots of emails from various firms I'm subscribed to with good specials ... well, some are good and some are just bog-standard specials. Anyway, one of those emails said there were Black Friday specials on TradeMe (like Ebay) Out of curiosity I just happened to have a look and noticed a Water Blaster on. I have been planning on buying one for quite some time, but couldn't really afford to at the time. However, my circumstances have changed slightly, and the price reduction was significant. I checked out the price of where I was going to buy that EXACT same item, and found that TradeMe genuinely did have a good special. I bought it, saving myself $80.00. It's free freight, too :-) It's an early Xmas Present to me. I've never in my entire 65 years bought myself a birthday or Xmas present before
I would NOT get into the car to go to any, however, because the closest is 15k's away and you can't guarantee you will get anything you want/need, anyway, so it would likely end up a waste of petrol (money)
Absolutely not. Here in the US, we are celebrating Thanksgiving today. The greed and ugliness many people display after allegedly being thankful disgusts me. Personally, I have errands to run tomorrow but they are my usual errands like grocery shopping. I also am planning to go to Ikea to get things I have been planning on for awhile.
I already shopped online, done. But shopped years ago on the Friday after Thanksgiving, before it was a “thing”. This was when everything was closed on Thanksgiving, the old days. It’s become a circus. But to each his own, maybe a rite of passage for people of a certain age. Shopping used to be more fun.
I don't like big crowds, and everyone goes crazy during this kind of sales! So, I'd rather stay home!
And I think it's pure consumerism and a gimmick anyway, to make you spend more! And the stuff that's marked down are not very salable items anyways. The really good stuff are still either regularly priced or marked down very little to make it worth braving the crazy crowds!
