Just signed up to this page so this will help with my time! I am trying to get up early so I feel somewhat productive. I have 3 dogs and we live in Hawaii so the weather is perfect for walking. We seem to do good until about 6pm and then I get a little stir crazy. My family is here in the same house so we are all being respectful of space. I think after reading these tonight I am gonig to start walking after dinner make the time go by better. I also read a lot and thank god for Hulu and Netflix!

I'm semi-retired from an 'essential' job, so I'm working some days. Phone appointments ONLY; no interaction with the public, and it's just a 2 person office.

When I'm not at the office...
I'm working on moving. We FINALLY closed on our new home yesterday. Now I can really focus on getting rid of stuff we don't want to move to a new location, and doing whatever I can to make our current location more saleable.
So far this week, I've cleaned out the gutters and put gutter guards on, cleaned out the fridge (which we are leaving), and continued to sort things in 3 categories:
trash / donate / move.

The most handicapped person in the world is a negative thinker; a person who has the skills, abilities, talents and tools, yet chooses not to use them.

No problem keeping busy - between remote work, overseeing remote school, spring gardening/planting (those seedlings were started indoors before the lockdown and need to go outside!), and trying to keep my house reasonably clean when everyone is at home all day instead of at work/school 5 days a week is plenty. But we have learned some new games to play with the boys as a family...

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

I’ll be thinking of you Sherylds. Hugs to you!

I too have been reaching for old comforting recipes the last week or two. I actually made custard after lunch with some old Birds powder I had in my pantry, when it was done it smelled funny so I looked at the expiry date... September 2015! Yuck, I threw it out. I didn’t make it from scratch because I was trying to conserve my eggs.

I got out in my garden today and cleaned up all the leaves and raked the grass. I could use some fresh mulch but I don’t think that is essential (at least it shouldn’t be).

I made this old recipe the other day for a bike ride snack. I had forgotten how good they are.

Apple Oatmeal Muffins
350 F for 20-25 minutes
Makes 12

1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup butter or oil
2 eggs
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup milk ( * I used almond milk, nutritional info is with almond milk)
2 cups grated apple (with peel on)

Cream butter and sugar. Mix in eggs, vanilla, milk, and grated apple.

1 1/4 cups flour (can use whole grain)
3/4 cup quick oats
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon

Add flour, oats, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Bake in muffin shells. When they first come out they stick to the paper a bit. Let them cool down a bit and they won’t anymore.

the stress of the news is getting to me. we've been advised to avoid leaving our homes even to go food shopping. it's a critical week for the NY/NJ area. NJ has 37,505 cases, 917 deaths, and the peak is still weeks away. My county is the most affected in the state.

I need comfort food
today I found a recipe for Healthy Apple Muffins (216 calories each).

I work from home and have since well before this issue reared its ugly, ugly head. I workout, sometimes with DVDs and sometimes I get out and walk or walk/run but and focusing on walking. Trying to run seems pointless since all my races through May have been cancelled and my knee is killing me anyways.

Yesterday, I organized and dusted my 2 tall bookcases in my living room. I got two brown grocery sacks of books to donate for when thrift stores open back up.

I am lucky to be able to work from home so that helps a lot. I am spending more time cooking all our meals at home; making it a bit of a challenge to use up food already in our freezer/pantry. Hubby and I are going to the park for walks several times a week--which is great because hardly ever would do that previously. Also glad it has been nice weather so we spend time on yard work. For indoors workouts, I am enjoying some videos and yoga. And then there are my sedentary things like watching more Netflix and reading.

Be well all!

I’m laid off so I’ve been cooking, baking and riding my bike a lot. On the iPad my jigsaw puzzle app and Netflix have been getting a good workout. I’m trying to wait until it warm up a bit before I clear the leaves out of the garden but I’m worried about doing it too early because I don’t want to kill the bees and ladybugs!

How about you? What have you been doing to keep busy?
