Welcome to SparkPeople, it is a challenge losing weight when getting older, I used to drop 20 lbs with little effort, now 1 lbs seems like major milestone! You can do this, take baby steps, join a SparkTeam for support and information. Use the tools her and most of all don't quit. Set backs are a part of life, accept them and move on!

As mentioned, the tabs across the top of this page contain oodles of info and will give you a track to run on. Another resource is the "Help" button which has a FAQ and a list of links leading to tutorial videos. Also, remember the little blue magnifying glass for a site search. These are both found around your username in the upper right corner of this page. Find something that looks easy and do it, then just pick another and another until you've built a whole arsenal of healthy habits. Good luck and welcome to SparkPeople!

There's a lot of stuff to do here. And I mean more than you would believe. Just when you think you found everything you'll find even more. Lol.

But don't rush. Browse around and get to know the site. Learn to navigate and find what you want to do. It's all about you and what your needs are.

If you're ready to dive in a little more, I would start by going to the "Learn" tab. It's on all the pages at the top. The second item on the list is the 28-day Sparkpeople program. It is a task activity guide. It will help you learn the in and out of SparkPeople. I highly suggest it.

If you need any help just ask on the message boards. You can also message me anytime. I would be more than happy to help.

When my GI doc saw me for the first time in a year, he said "What the hell happened to you???"
Ignoring his rudeness, still his sentiment was on point. In part due to severe hypothyroidism, I've gained a LOT of weight. I'm also older, and finding this a severe challenge.
