myself, I don't calculate the tea as water because I do add a half ounce of milk to it. I only drink one or 2 cups per day so I do get my 8 cups extra of plain water as well

I enjoy all flavors of zero calorie flavored water. It's even good to freeze and eat it like as a frozen popsicle treat.

I count tea the same as water as long as the tea is unsweetened. One can only drink so much plain water. Seems like a little variety such as a touch of lemon or lime would help us reach our H20 goal every day.

Unsweet tea is a much better substitute than soda. I have been able to go from regular soda to diet soda and now it's nothing but unsweet tea for me. McDonalds has a special right now - any size drink for only $1. I get a large unsweet tea every morning on my way to work and drink it throughout the day. emoticon

If I was to make homemade unsweetened iced tea or Crystal Light. I can count that as water? I do make those instead of drinking too much soda which I'm trying to cut down on that. I used 2 decaff tea and 1 reg tea bags. Then use Splenda for sugar (2 packets).

Yup. I think that there is an article somewhere on SparkPoeple that tells you everything that can count as water.

I always count herbal tea but not coffee and tea because of the dehydrating factors that come with caffeine.

I am always worth my best. My best is good enough for anyone.

Great question! I used to drink a gallon of unsweetened tea a day but gave that up. Now I only drink water or flavored water such as Crystal Light. I count the flavored water towards my water intake but was wondering the same question. Glad to see the answers on here.

Not for me because of the caffeine-I am very sensitive to caffeine. You might try decaf., but I wouldn't suggest it.

Tea and other flavored drinks can count as water, as long as they are decaffeinated.

I drink both, too. In fact, they're both about the only things I do drink which is why I was checking out this post. I'll be adding it to my water intake since I have about 2-3 cups of tea with nothing in it per day and about 5-6 glasses of water. All evens out in the end.

yes, this is great to know . I was wondering . I have been drinking tea about 2 or three cups a day , I add some lemon and splenda, sometimes hot and some cold it's good emoticon emoticon

I started a month ago , but I didn't go nowhere.
Why? I am finding everything I do tiresome and very difficult. I am trying to continue and get somewhere with my fight for a better life. My health has been going down in the last 5 years. I am 73 and recently I am experiencing quite a bit of pain with this injury of a sciatic nerve. Of course that has nothing to do with my continued to eat things are not beneficial for me. I believe depression is the cause of wanting more sweets, is my weakne

I was wondering the same thing. Crystal light, tea, coffee...etc.

Life would be much more upbeat if there was just background music no matter when or where you were doing things.

It would also be more fun if people didn't look at you funny when you danced to the music down the sidewalk ha ha~

When I worked at Curves the Dietician/Nutritionist said as long as you do not put anything else in you tea, Lemon was the only thing she said was OK. You can count it as water. I have always counted it as water, but do not drink 8 glasses of tea maybe one or two.
I agree with what others have said about water being the best, but one or 2 glasses can't hurt.

and I o not usually drink a lot of Tea, anyway usually only when i go out to eat.

I don't count my tea as part of my water. The reason is.... nothing takes the place of water and the benefits it as for the body.

Well, now we have a different response from someone. I can't say as I am no expert. One has to ask how many ounces are we talking about here? Because if you are substituting all of your water with tea, then I would reconsider. It certainly would not cause harm to leave tea out of your count & drink an extra glass or two. If our health is in the balance I say drink up.

I won't be losing any sleep about this issue, I have read it both ways and as we know reasonable minds often disagree. If you are concerned I would just drink the extra glass or two in the name of good health.

The benefit to your health for drinking tea far outweighs the calories & it isn't much. Tea has properties that help keep you healthy so drink up. Spark has many articles on the benefits of tea. I have never read of tea being harmful. That said, everyone's body chemistry is different & you should listen to your body.

I do count my tea as water. I don't drink soft drinks, but if I did, I would not count it as it iis known to dehydrate us not hydrate. If you are still confused read the articles here on the site, you get 5 spark points per article with a maximum of 25 points a day.
