Hi, Coach Jen.
It is not just the EU. I am in Bermuda and unless I use a VPN connected to a US site on my iPhone or iPad, I can not access the information. It is fine on a desktop.

Unfortunately, I find if I don't record right away, by the time I'm at the computer, I've forgotten half of what I'd eaten!

We are not blocking those reports. The data export for Fitness details has always been for Premium only. Fitness has always been a print only option. Nutrition has always (and still does have) the option to export data to file (an excel file) when viewing the Today’s Full Report (that option is near the bottom of that report page). For Premium users, it is a feature that they get extra for those extra reports that we didn’t have prior to Premium.

As for your Apple Watch not syncing, just logging into our app after having at least some new activity from the last time they logged in should trigger the sync. Your watch data is supposed to flow into your Apple Health app on your phone and that will then flow into our app as long as you are signing into it. You can manually sync it like you mentioned, but unfortunately we don’t have any control over how quickly they send us the data. Usually they are pretty quick to send that to us, but we did check your account and the connection and everything looks good and you have steps from Apple listed on your Fitness Tracker page. Hopefully that means it's working for you today.

I am interested in knowing whether SP is blocking data transfer for non-premium users. I have an Apple Watch and no matter what I do these days, my exercise will not transfer to SP. I have frequently deleted the app and re-loaded (that used to work for a little while). I have also gone to each day and hit the re-send data button (that worked for a little while, too.). Then today I notices a lock on the Data Export button and started wondering if this is a way to get us to go Premium.

I had to take the app off my phone. It was constantly sending stuff to my phone every day. It actually got totally annoying.

WE CAN DO IT!

GDPR has nothing to do with security in reality. It focus on ensuring you only collect the data that you need with the persons consent and that they understand how that data is used.
You have to know the data you have and where it is and have a legitimate reason. Consent from the customer is a reason though in European law not as strong as it is in the US. The app is no different to the website so really european users should be blocked from that too following the logic.
So as someone who deals with GDPR for their day job for a large Internet firm I am absolutely befuddled by.

Not a huge fan of the ap so very rarely use it - works better if I log in on my laptop!

The functionality of the web version on my iPhone leaves a whole lot to be desired. Perhaps focus can be placed on improving its functionality.

Then the real concern and question here is what state your privacy compliance is already in.

With everybody in Europe having to comply within the time frame, are things in such a state here you are not even close to complying? Thats a worrying conclusion that I will not be the only person to be coming to and being concerned about.

With a small team and the short amount of time between now and May 25, we have decided that we just don't have the resources to explore and cover all our bases before the deadline. We plan to revisit this situation as time allows and may allow use of the app in the EU in the future.

Is there a reason behind SP not being able/willing to take the steps required for this?
Are your security levels so low they won't be able to meet it?

The UK is leaving the EU march 2019 :) cant wait. I tried to use the website on my phone and its functionality isn't great :( I guess I will have to try a different app but I've been using Sparkpeople for years now and its great for maintaining my weight loss. I hope things change and I will be able to use your app again in the future.

I just want to say thanks to Sparkpeople for helping me to lose weight and keep it off.

The app is remaining, however for any EU members, it will no longer be an option as of that day in order for us to comply with the new rules being put in place by the EU called GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation). Unfortunately, it's something that is out of our control.
