Hi I just started following this 16:8 IF routine. I never felt I needed it because we naturally get a 12 hour over night fast while we sleep. But thought I would give it a real try.
Breakfast at 11 AM , lunch 2 PM , dinner by 7PM nothing else until next morning.

I seem to have been following this program without ever knowing it. We are 65 and 68 and we eat breakfast at 8am, lunch around noon, then dinner before 4 and stop and do not eat again till 8am. Many retired people do this. I can't say I have lost much weight but I have lost around 10lbs but I have no acid reflux like I did and sleep better. I know my doctor always has said dinner early.

I think IF is a viable option for some and not others. Personally I often cannot eat until 1 PM or later. I get a bit irritable and may experience a headache if I skip breakfast so it is not for me. I am able to lose weight following the suggested calorie limits.

As for lowering your cholesterol you should avoid trans fats and limit saturated fats in your diet. Increasing fiber should help as well. Following the general guidelines on Sparkpeople should get you to your goal. Bear in mind some people struggle with lowering their cholesterol if they are genetically predisposed to manufacture a lot of cholesterol.

I'm 53, and I do the 16/8 Intermittent Fasting. I've lost 42.6 lbs since starting IF Oct. 16, 2019. (16 weeks) 258.8-216.2
I am very happy with it. I am grain free, and only eat carbs from fruit & veggies. I don't count fat, & don't stress over saturated fat, but do try to always include healthy fats with every meal...(avocado, olive oil, nuts, etc)

I am a 66-yo woman with a seemingly non-functioning metabolism. I have been on a 16:8 fast for a few weeks now, plus counting calories. My eating window is from about 12 noon to 8 p.m. It has been pretty easy for me not to eat in the mornings, as I have never been very hungry at that time of day. Sometimes I go longer before I break my fast, about 1:00 to 2:30, because the longer I go without eating, the less hungry I become. I occasionally go off the 16:8 plan on weekends, so I can enjoy a yogurt and fruit breakfast with my husband, but I stick to it religiously on weekdays. I have lost 5 pounds so far. I am still assessing the benefit of fasting, although I understand from my reading that it is a good thing for internal body processes. Time will tell.

I've been following this type of eating for a few months now. My window of eating is from 6-7 AM to 3 PM.

I'm 50 and 4 months and I have no complains. No medication.

I gained 30 lbs in the last 3 years. Hormonal changes I guess. I'm into exercise also and clean eating but the weight is stubborn. I lose it slowly.

I did IF mixed with keto and lost 40 pounds. I ended up needing a heart valve replacement (nothing to do with diet). I gained back 20 lbs as the doctors didn't want me to continue the IF/keto until I recovered. I just started back and I'm seeing results again. I normally only eat either dinner only or late lunch/dinner during the week. My wife has started the same type of program but the feeding times are set by a phone app, but it's the same idea.

I really need to change lifestyle and eating habits. I'm just curious if anyone else in here is doing 16:8? I also have some issues trying to get my cholesterol and really trying to get myself back to a place where I am healthy and happy again.

I have a teenage son that is really into weightlifting, so the changes I make in our lifestyle will be beneficial to us both. Not that he has any problems or concerns. But just looking for some others that might be taking this journey to and exploring and very interested in doing a Clean 16:8.

I would love to hear from others that have tried or are embarking on this journey, too.
