1. I've finally learned what to eat that makes me feel good and what to avoid that makes me feel like garbage. I have fibromyalgia and certain foods trigger pain and general malaise in me.
2. I WANT MY BLACK BELT!!! I've been doing Taekwondo for two years and am at my purple belt (just over half way there.) I was starting to get a little discouraged thinking in my current shape I would not be able to obtain my black belt (and honestly, I was feeling like I was getting too old to go for it.) After talking to my husband about it he pointed out that he'd seen a woman on TV who earned her black belt at 84 years old! So not only did that take away my excuse, it motivated me to get more serious about fitness. I am right that at my current fitness level I won't be able to earn the belt but that just means I need to get in better condition!
3. I just want to be fit and healthy enough to enjoy my life for a long time. I watched my aunt (who raised me) become a hermit and reliant on oxygen because she was over 400 pounds and diabetic. Her quality of life was pretty much zero at the end. I watched her die in the hospital at 74 years old. We had to pay an extra fee for a large flatbed truck to take her remains to a facility that could handle cremating someone her size. It wasn't the fee that made me sad about that. Sorry that's morbid but it's definitely a motivator for me. She was for all accounts and purposes my mom and I loved her dearly.
4. I want to set a good example for my kids because I want them to get the absolute most out of life.

I want to live up to my body's potential for grace, athleticism, and strength. i want to feel good about myself instead of hating the mirror and scale. And I want to avoid the heart disease and diabetes that plague my family.
I really think focusing on a healthy life style, by loving yourself enough to take care of yourself, is much more important and effective than focusing on weight loss. The weight will come off (even if it seems to take "forever")as a result of taking care of yourself. If the issues that made you overweight in the first place are addressed, as you learn to take care of yourself, the excess weight will stay off. Let's all learn to truly love ourselves!

I want to wear actual bathing suits to the beach without feeling like a beached whale. I want to go for a long walk with my boyfriend without getting tired after a mile. I want to smile at myself in the mirror and think about all the hard work I put into making my body look good.
I have 2 young, very active boys and I want to have the energy and stamina to keep up. Heart disease, high cholestoral and diabetes run in my family so I want a healthly lifestyle so I can be around for my kids for years to come. I want to teach them that living healthy is important and can be fun!
I want to have more confidence! Especially to feel better when I am dressing up for work, and not always hide in a hoodie and jeans. I also want to make working out more of a hobby so I can be healthy.
i weigh almost 200 pounds at 5 foot 6 and can barely fit into 'normal" clothes, and am embarrassed to be seen in public, and i get out of breath easily having to run for the bus or go up steps, and i am a weakling when it comes to everyday chores--plus i am vain and just want to look better --marcella
keep trying despite failure, and if you perservere, eventually you WILL succeed.
