I will get new to me (thrift store, consignment) clothes once the looseness feels more sloppy than “hey I’m shrinking.”
Once I’m at my goal, I’ll get some jeans I really love. I like what I have but I want a durable pair. I found a company that makes them to your size for about $100. In actual durable denim. I rotate two pair for about three years before I manage to do major damage to them.
I do want to get proper exercise clothes now that my gym is reopened. My shorts are a bit too baggy and come off my hips. Fine for kicking around the house, or with a belt hiking, but not in the gym.
Wake up every day knowing you make the decision to begin your journey anew.
This choice in this moment defines now. What is your now?
Unfortunately, this isn't my first time around with losing weight, so I just "shop my closet". I did a clean-out of the other closets and drawers in the house that held my clothes that didn't fit me (mostly pants) and tried them all on. There were the ones that surprisingly fit me now (yay!) so those got pulled into rotation. Then there were the pairs of pants that were close, but still a little snug. I put those ones in one drawer in my master bedroom, close at hand. The others that were definitely way too tight, I decided that even if I could fit in them, were they a style that I would still wear? If not, I donated them.

I've gotten a couple new sweaters in my current size, but I really feel like a slob if my pants are too baggy or bra is too big. Then Amazon here I come. I have had a few things that were my current size already in my closet (from before I gained), but those are all gone now and I will be losing at least 17# more. I don't seem to be losing as much upstairs as lower, which is ok by me. There aren't any thrift stores around and the Goodwill only has really crappy stuff or totally new stuff that's as expensive as other stores (and doesn't fit my long torso).

I have bought a lot of new clothes recently because my old clothes--which I continued to wear--were way too big and it was demoralizing me. I go to places where I can get nice things at a nice price. We have a Talbot's clearance center near me and right now the chinos and jeans are $10 each. I went and bought a bunch of them, and I feel like a million bucks in these clothes. I feel doubly motivated to keep going with my program because I don't want to grow out of these clothes by gaining weight. I'd rather grow into and then out of them by LOSING weight instead! Then I can go and buy more $10 pants in the next size down.
Oh yes! You still need rewards WHILE losing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just do not buy that little black dress~ ~THAT is for the end of the weight loss journey and the beginning of living and working out in Maintenanceland forever! And ,yes, I have learned the hard way ,you DO have to workout to MAINTAIN!!!!

I did buy clothes as I was losing....turns out too many. When I was going down had no idea that I'd keep losing and would kept it off! In hindsight I wish I'd bought fewer clothes until I stabilized at a weight.
in 2013 I bought size 14's in the spring and by the time I could wear them I was a size 12! Luckily I could exchange a lot of them.
