I agree with Pookie.
Those who like a particular person's blogs can subscribe to them and thus get to read them regularly.

I agree it's tedious to have the same, often content-less blogs constantly featured. A limit of once a week would give more chance of people without fanclubs with something to say be featured.

It's not jealousy, we are not teenagers, give credit we are better than that.

I was so surprised the other day to see 3 new bloggers featured... and all 3 had interesting things to say...it was great!

I usually read Lynda's blogs because they are entertaining. That said, I do not "cast my vote" so I am not one of those who keeps her on top. I suspect there are many in Sparkland just like me! In truth, though, I enjoy her blogs more than most others.

My personal blogs are rare and intended for those who are my Spark friends on a daily basis.

We don't want any of our members to "disappear" for any reason, especially because of something like who's blogs are featured in an email.

Even if someone has a following who votes for their blogs, would it be fair for us to exclue them for that reason? How would we determine who's voting b/c they just like the person or who is voting because they really like the blog? We've always taken the approach that we don't want to interfere too much in that process b/c it starts to become making judgements about how people are voting and why.

I will pass along your feedback to our team in case they want to discuss changes to how this works in the future.

Thanks,

Coach Jen

having a 'following' who automatically vote for your blog skews the process.

I can say I am not jealous b/c my blogs are not the featured items. I do read hers just about every day, but I just think others would like to be featured at some point. Just saying, b/c it doesn't really matter. It is what it is.....

Just for the record I read Lynda's blogs every day.

Yet, I tend to use the "Highlighted" Center Ring blog in the 'Best of SparkPeople' daily newsletter as a means to "FIND NEW BLOGGERS" or reacquaint myself with ones I had lost track of,,

Thus having the same blogger in that spot nearly every day... I am nearly ready to stop even opening that email... but I haven't... because that just might be the day that I might meet someone new (at least to me!).
Also I am sure that SparkPeople really does not care whether I read their emails or even stay a member of the site. And, who knows maybe they would just as soon I disappear. I am after all only one person out of how many million do they say they have for members now?

just weighing in, I do read her blogs not everyday, and I do find them amusing, good for her!

Maybe some people are just miffed because they didn't get featured, if the community is doing the voting don't see how that would be on the administrators, just saying

I once felt pretty much the same way but, in the end, I find it just doesn't matter. If nothing else, LEANJEAN's blogs are interesting and amusing. She has an upbeat attitude and a different perspective in life which is quite refreshing -- even if it is every day. You don't have to read it, you know. Perhaps if you were stuck in the icy cold arctic, you'd be blogging every day, too?

I don't agree with the same blogger getting the spotlight day after day. Maybe we need to vote to make a change to a limited number of times in a certain period that a blogger can be featured.

My thoughts are that bloggers tend to get 'followers' and they'll vote for that person's every blog. Good blogs, mind you, but give others a chance to be featured. Maybe it's time to change how they're chosen to be featured?

It is getting VERY annoying that the same person is featured every single day and 3X in the Spark e-mails. Something needs to be changed.

We try to make sure there is variety in the featured blogs. Some bloggers are consistently featured because members are voting up their blogs. We don't necessarily want to interfere with that process and not feature something, even though a number of members found it worthy enough to vote for.

IF there are millions of people or at least 100s of thousands of active members on this site...
THEN there must be at least 100s of blogs worth highlighting every week/month..
THEREFORE it would seem there should be a filter that would not allow the same blogger's blogs to be highlighted MORE than ONCE a WEEK at most.. maybe even ONLY once a MONTH.

Have you ever noticed that things on "auto-pilot" without close monitoring tend to not work the way they were intended?
